AR6C 913346 ... Is it real?

The photos would tend to make me think that it exists and is therefor "real". That does not mean that I assume it has any legitimate tie to the chassis number. Nor would I assume that it does not.

Does it have history before the last few years? If the chassis is genuine Alfa Romeo and legitimately carries the chassis number claimed, yes.

Is it likely to have any significant history in the current configuration? That is much less certain. The body is evocative of the Vignale body fitted to a 12 cylinder car, 412151, but is clearly not the actual body from that car.

The chassis number is new to my studies but that is not unusual. I get "new" (old) numbers fairly frequently. However, a "sports" configuration car claiming a "Turismo" chassis number begs several questions, most of them beginning, "Why ..."

Does it have value? Yes. Does it have anything like the value that is professed by the offer? That's up to you and what you think you want. And perhaps how much you want to gift someone for what is likely to be some sort of vanity project ... in the best/worst case scenario. Personally, I would value it as something a bit more than the sum total of the parts, unless you happen to need just the parts.

I think the why in many cases is people trying to pass off a "bitsa" as real, period car. I agree that is either some sort of vanity project, as was suggested..... or nothing more than an attempt by someone to create a period LOOKING car using some real period parts, and to make a profit.

Historic photo of Competizione #920002 ?

Hi,

for our book on the Dovaz collection, I'm still searching for copyrights on one good historic photo of the 6C2500 Competizione (#920002).

Does anyone know, from what source the attached photo (Mille Miglia 1949) is ?
Does anyone have it in a higher resolution than 800x600 ? Then please send it to mbwestwood@hotmail.com .

Thanks a lot!
Kay

One of the pictures in the Lurani MM book. You could try Lurani's daughter that has much information and data on her fathers work. Preumably the Count would have had some sort of permission / copyright. Next try Millanta's widow who up until a few years ago was still in Milan.

Lurani book

Thanks for your help!

Do anyone have the Lurani book ? Is there any photo credit for this specific photo in it?

Kay

Corrado Millanta

Thanks for the information!

I tried to contact Millantas widow (or daughter ?) via email. At least the email address I found still exists. Lets see if there will be any answer.

Kay,

these photos are not vintage, but maybe this site is nevertheless interesting.
I saw most of their photographs in reality and have to say they are really great and absolutely unique. Btw, I couldn't resist buying one of those b/w photos of the 6C competizione

AutomobiLiFotoArte

In their gallery you find some very professional (modern) photos of the Tipo 6c2500 Competizione 1948.

Maybe you like them as well.

Best regards
Ciao Carlo

Hi Carlo,

thanks a lot! Wonderful pictures. One of these as a large poster at my wall ... wonderful idea.

But I think they are less suitable for publication in a book. We have one or two very good photos of 2005. So the historic photos are the problem.

Kind regards
Kay

Many years ago in Toronto I did a Fiat/Alfa rally in my Ferrari 250 GT. That day there was a "C46 Competzione 001" that took part. I think it was owned by Dorien Berteletti and was put together by panelbeater Mike Lewis' shop here in Toronto. Is this car still around?

Panel beater Mike Lewis's "putting together" was limited to making the nose section/ grille and some door repairs. Perhaps this is what some people may call "putting together". I call it repairing. I have some pictures so as to be clear. I can email them to a "volunteer" who can then post them as I can't. The existing fender and the new section are evident.
