Can anyone identify this car?

I came across this photo on the VSCCA web site. It's from the early May event at Lime Rock. Is it possible that it's a 158/159?!
thanks

It's probably the "Alfa Romeo Volpi Special". It's got a 6C2500 engine and is of interesting origins. Read more about it in this thread, but there's not much info on it.

The most important piece of information is Chris Bertschi's comment that to the best of his knowledge (and he's an expert on Alfas in Argentina) Volpi never was never involved with a 6c 2500. So, the 6c Volpi Special seems to have no credible history with Volpi and might be a "bitsa."

Mike, Tubut, the car is owned by renowned Pre-war Alfa restorer David L. George in Pennsylvania. If you have questions about its provenance you should contact him directly.

thanks for the info,guys. I wasn't questioning the legitimacy of the car, just its identity;
although Chris Bertschi's comments certainly are of interest.

What I can say is that I have never seen a single piece of information about a Volpi special with a 6C 2500 engine racing in Argentina. Whatīs the purpose of a racing car that never race I donīt know, but I am always open to new info.
Regards.

According to the info supplied on the D.L.George website the car has an 8 cylinder engine displacing 2500cc.

GTD,

On the website you mention I see a car with an engine with 6 (six) trumpets.
Also the caption says 6C 2500.

If it looks like an Alfa 6C, has 6 trumpets and the caption says Alfa 6C, I would say it is a 6C.

Regards.
Cris.-

You are correct
I guess I was distracted and mixed this thread with some other info ... Mea culpa!
It's also too late here to be posting!
