I have never heard of an Alfa-Volpe, but Colombo, the Alfa engineer was involved with a small "city car" called the ALCA-Volpe. I have information on the ALCA-Volpe cars, if that is what you are looking for. Four cars were entered in the 1947 Mille Miglia, but all did not start.

Here are links to a couple of websites with some information on the ALCA-Volpe

1947 A.L.C.A. Volpe

Translated version of http://www.omniauto.it/magazine/5245/alca-volpe

Also: click on "comments" on the above website...

Googling for "alfa volpi monoposto" gives several image results (and 1 video). It appears there is a 1938 Alfa Romeo Volpi Monoposto with a 6C 2500 engine that was built in Argentina and raced by Fangio. However, when it comes to just buying a chassis, I'd be very careful establishing that it is from a real car not a reproduction. I don't have the Alfa Romeo Argentina that AlfaBB member Cris Bertschi co-wrote, but I would certainly consult his book and ask his opinion before making a decision.

Hi Tubut,

During the many years of research for our book Alfa Romeo Argentina we never came across any info nor picture of Fangio related to any 6C alfa engined Volpi.

Volpi built some chassis in Argentina and also repaired 8C 35 s/n 50014. More info in our book.

Kind regards.
Cris.-
