Thumbs up KY Alfa Parts Locations

I am currently looking for a car to restore but have specific requirements of the model and base car: not a rust bucket, smaller, fun, unique, decent part availability. On the top of my list is a GTV-6 (had one my last year of high school). A major consideration to restore and keep alive the car is part availability. Last week I needed a body panel for my '91 nissan daily driver. 6 months ago I was informed of the same car sitting in a salvage yard on National Turnpike. I called yesterday and it was just crushed - uggh. I have also heard that most salvage lots crush cars once their 20 years old.

It would be very helpful to all if we created a thread to list local locations of known Alfa parts. If you know of a salvage yard that has a parts car? List it. Know a Alfa friendly parts distributor? list it. Wanting to get rid of some parts in your garage? list them. Local could mean reasonable access like other states touching KY.

Wouldn't you think the list should include useful information like: Car model or part, year, description, location, date sited.

If we listed them in this thread we could do several things besides search the thread. 1. Make an online spreadsheet for the club 2. Have the Kentucky Alfa Romeo society contact the salvage yard and convince them to put a hold on crushing it since the club will in effect be advertising to it's target market. Several other reasons to save it. Information is key to everything.

Any thoughts or list entries?

Well, for starters I would mention The Alfarm, about 65 miles south of Louisville. At last count over 100 dead or dying Alfa's in the fields, barns and shops. The thing is, most everyone in the Kentucky club know about it and know that pretty much all Alfas around here have lots of rust. Trying to remove a small part from a car that's been out in a field for a few years isn't much fun but it can be done.......someone just cut the nose off a Spider out there last week. That was fun, plasma cutter, torch and a sawzall!!

I think the local club members are the best source for parts, I've always found everything I need from them during a meeting or mentioning it in the newsletter. One of our members in Louisville has a nice GTV6 he will sell, came out of AZ a few years ago and has ZERO rust! Plenty of parts around for it also.............

I need to check that out. My time frame for purchasing a car is mid summer. I wouldn't mind learning more about the mentioned car so I can view it.

Would it be possible to get contact info for the Alfarm? I will be driving through the area soon and would love to visit!
Thanks in advance

p.s. the idea for saving Alfa's from crushing is a good one !! My favorite GTV6 [Blacky] was saved when a friend called me and said it was going to be crushed the next day!! 5 years and 60,000 miles later I still have it! It came to me fully lowered on poly bushes, Koni's, cams and computer!
I shudder to think of how many Alfas are crushed in Cal every year due to the smog inspection crap.
