I once sold a 63 BJ8 to a guy from France.. He came and bought it and He drove it to Newark NJ and shipped it from there on a ship.. Not sure of the cost but it was a few years ago and was close to 1k I believe..
He said they container them for the trip..

Maybe try the shipping companies there or where ever you are...

Hi there,

I just order a shipping transport from Louisiana (not near the sea) to Le Havre, so from US door to harbour France.

No problem, and good transport. Price 3000 + customs taxes.

The French company I use : Herfurth Logistic
Safe, profesional, good rates, quick.

After that, you have to drive your car to Nice (very nice trip) or find a trailer.

It's not the first time I order a transport from US.

In France, we have to pay customs taxes. It's possible to make a temporary import with taxes free, if the car leaves the country after a while (I don't know exactly how many time)

Hi Chris: thanks for info. Were you at Retromobile? We go every year. Did the company you use take care of everything - all documentation in US and France. Shipped in container?
I understand that VAT not payable on old cars. Perhaps we could talk? We will be in Paris in April or by phone.
thanks

Hello,

yes, I was at Retromobile.

My car (alfa GTC) was on display in the hall 3.

The company take care of everything, documentation and shipping. You don't have to go to Le Havre, if you have a trailer waiting for your car.

If you want to import and registred your car in France, you will have 5.5 % (on declared value) of custom taxes + 20 % of VAT on these 5,5%. But better is to ask to French custom.

I will meet you with pleasure when you will be in Paris. PM sent.

Chris
