I have used both the type that screw into a bung in the radiator and the bulb type that can either be attached to the rear of the radiator or inserted into a radiator hose. I had some reliability issues with the screw-in types in my Spider but I have a similar one plumbed into a hose in my GTV6 and it has been fine. I currently use the bulb type attached to the radiator fins on my Spider. It is adjustable, it doesn't need a relay and you don't have to drain coolant to test it.
