Wanted to say hello as a 1st time Alfa owner.
1964 2600 Spider that has been garaged since the 70's in California.
Needs a lot of tlc but the body is very straight and very little rust is present. Very happy to join your club!
Be advised, "Touring" is an Italian word that means "hides rust in all the wrong places".
It's a long and painful road from where you are to where you want to be, but in the end, it'll be well worth it. Please don't take shortcuts. The Touring cars (in spite of it's meaning) are worth doing it right.
Where are you located? You might want to add it to your member CP/Signature.
Welcome to AlfaBB -- and nice find! The car is a US version Series 2 Spider. The engine compartment looks unmolested (even the Pirelli hoses and original clamps on the cross-over tube are still in place). Parts availability is pretty good (although somewhat expensive) and you'll find lots of help in the 1900/2000/2600 sub-forum. Could you please post the chassis number?
BTW, one of the first thing you may want to do is buy the Cardisc 2000/2600 DVD with all the manuals, which they sell cheaper on eBay than on their web site (see here). The scanning quality of the documents isn't great but it's a good starting point. Most of the docs are also available from the AROC Tech Library (see here).
Welcome,
You will find a wealth of knowledge for your car in these 'pages'. From the pic you are missing some trim and stuff some of which you can find new and some of which you will have to patiently wait for an offering.
Looks like the car was a darker gray with a white interior from the factory.
This is my list of missing items so far.
Missing both bumpers, 3 hubcaps, both front side grills, radio delete badge, rear license plate holder, spare tire hold down, rear seat cushion and rear boot cover/seat back.
I notice many reproduction parts available. Is the quality acceptable?
Thanks for the chassis number. I looked up old register information but could not find any information on this car.
As for the color, it might have been AR-705 Grigio Grafite, but this color usually left the factory with black vinyl interiors. The Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione would know for sure and could provide this information but is currently closed for relocation (no date for when they will reopen).
You'd be best off to buy a complete interior set from a company like Paolini in Italy (see this post), as you'll have to do the front seats as well because the original open-cell foam usually crumbles very quickly due to aging.
Another owner in the UK reported on getting stainless steel bumpers, side grills and license plate holder in this thread.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
