I have two US spec 2000 GTVs here:
3020442 built May 1972; original nose badge was Milano type; trunk lid is a replacement (showing blue paint underneath, car has always been silver) and doesn't have a recess;
3025520, built Nov. 1974; original paint all over, no confusion possible. Non Milano badges front and rear, trunk lid has recess.
My first Alfa, a 1969 1750 GTV, had a trunk lid with recess; my second one was a 1968 GT Junior, didn't have a recess. Somebody had glued a badge on the lid - off center. The other 1750 and 2000s I've owned all had the recess.
A quick look in Fusi confirms my memories: the trunk badge appeared with the 1750s; Giulia GTs and GT Juniors didn't have them, at least until the 2000 style Juniors around 1974.
