Red/Burgundy Basket Weave Vinyl
Hi Everyone.
Have recently purchased a '69 grey 1750 GT Veloce. The long-standing previous owner replaced the drivers seat basket weave material with a very close-coloured flat vinyl. It looks ok....but I'd be glad to find the correct material and have the seat redone.
Any ideas as to where I might find this material?
Thanks in advance.
Derek

try these people..
Centerline Alfa Romeo (888) 750-ALFA
At their site, click through to the online shop and interior parts.
They have the material and the whole seat cover already made up.
You didn't happen to get you car through Sylvestre in Montreal by any chance?
Good luck
Brian

Thanks for the tip Brian.
Tried them and they don't appear to have the red - but I've emailed them just in case.
Sorry, have adjusted my listing to be Vermont in Melbourne Australia
Best wishes
Derek

Hi Derek,
If you haven't already, try Re-Originals in Perth. They carry a lot of that kind of reproduction stuff but a bit pricey. If no success there try Alfaholics, although I can't recall having seen the burgandy/red colour material on their site.
Cheers

No good with Re-originals. According to their website they ceased trading in Feb of this year. Alas also Alfaholics don't stock the red.
Thanks anyway

Sounds like it's time for the SEM dye.

You could try Re-originals in the US.....they have a lot of the hard to find interior materials in the OEM colors and styles. But give them a call instead (I've not had much luck communicating with them via e-mails in the past).

Talk to Daron at Vintage Customs. He has the source for the real stuff.

I searched world wide for this red material but came up empty as well. I was told by a few sources to buy the black and dye it.

Have you tried Paolini in Italy? Send them an email (info@paolini.it) with a photo of the material you want and they might be able to help you.

The good news - this material (or one very similar to it) should be officially available directly from Alfa Romeo
Now for the bad news - you might have to change your interior to leather
Whoever thought that the 8C Competizione might be so relevant to the rest of us?!
I have no idea if the process of embossing vinyl is the same as that for leather (somehow I doubt it) but if this texture is identical to the 1750GTV's interior and the processes are identical, then it seems that not only is the tooling available, but that there's also an opportunity for an enterprising supplier to commission new vinyl material from whoever is producing the seat material for Alfa Romeo's new 8C. That's assuming that Centro Stile will cough up that information.
Still, I believe that leather was originally an option ...
Alex.

Too bad those seats are too modern for my car. They look really comfortable, with good support

Thank you everyone. This is a terrific site!!
A quick summary of the various leads each of you have provided -
Centreline Alfa Romeo - no good - but have other colours
Highwood Alfa - black only
Re-Originals - have every colour imaginable but alas not red/burgundy
Vintage Custom - out of stock but referred me to WorldUPH.
Worlduph - don't carry the colour but directed me to Re-Originals.
Paolini - I don't think they returned my email so I'm about to try them again!! - Just received the 'no go' response from them.
Thanks for all your help!!
Derek
