Finally a GTV !!!

Hi all,

I just bought a 1973 GTV Always been dreaming of one. Coming home Saturday. It's pretty much a restoration project. Which brings me to my first ask for help

1. I need front seats - so if you come across any or know where I could get a hold of both... upholstery quality is less of a concern than the "structure" - I have no (original) seats in the car. I need to assess back seats.

2. Windsheild cracked. Easy to find replacement?

I'm sure you'll see me around in this section of the BB while I go through my restoration...

My Spider will be jelaous of the sudden change of attention

Seats are going to be hard to come by in good condition or far too expensive to consider. Id look for something after market, or possibly ugly cores and getting them reconditioned.

As for the windshield, you might have a search on your hands. Centerline was selling GTV windshields for a while but they are bought up very quickly. They come up from time to time but aren't always the easiest to find.

Cool car though, hope you enjoy it.

Seats are easy and pop up for sale quite often... I just had a full set (front and rear) for sale for $150 out of a 74 GTV, they are spoken for now, but if you put a WTB ad on the board you will probably come up with something.

That car looks like the latter choice from when I bought my car!
Is it missing the front seats?

The early glue in style windshields (you will need a seal and trim) are for sale by the dozen at Pilkington Classics

Wire maze

Hi all,

Haven't had much time so far to work on the GTV. Just removed all carpets inside to look at rust damage on floor (which fortunately is not beyond repair). But did start working on a "re-wiring" project as the car has clearly been sitting for 4 years with various families of rodents i.e. many of the cable were chewed up! Have a look at the before / after pictures below

(so much) more to come

Cheers

Thx Chris. The "lucky" will come when indeed pressing the horn will not activate the windshield wipers

If such a problem come up, it's going to be hard to track it down now that you've rewired everything with red. That's why they used different color wires, and different gauge wires as well, so you would know what goes where.

Was half joking. I am following the wire diagram and keeping color coding as much as possible. I found a lonly wire which my Dad pointed out to me to be the horn... so removed from the relay which was probably the winshield washer pump wire.. The red wires are all for the brake master and if not mistaking all the previous wires were the same color too. Not red, agreed

You could always consider new seat covers and get the professionally fitted. They are available in the UK should be over there. Matt

Slowly but...

Hi all,

Finally spent some time on the GTV the long week-end of the 4th. Still in phase 1, which is redoing the electrical system. Nealry every wire is damaged - or by the former resident rodents chewing, or just by age/corrosion. I'm getting to know the wire diagram pretty well now! While I am in the engine compartiment, I replaced the air intakes as old ones were jammed. Also cleaning up or bringing back to life here and there, and repainting the inside. Replacing many parts as well. Look at the pics - see how clean the hood hook is? and pretty neat the AR serial number, no? Still soooooooo much to do.
