Rosso Amaranto 509 di ManuelAlfaholic

Next on the block for the summer of 08 is this wine colored GTV. My high school
Class mate bought this car in California from the original owner, resident of Sylmar CA in 1991 and shipped it to Virginia. After sorting out all the usual mechanical issues, he then took a job in Bogota’ Colombia. The car lived there for 10 years and got stripped to the bone at some point and had all the body work done with ZERO bondo (some lead) and repainted. It also got a new interior (wrong pattern) and misc parts from AIP that I sent over. 3 month ago I purchased this car from him and shipped it back to LA. Now I will have it repainted, have a new interior done in tobacco brown and redo all the suspension and clutch plus tune up as needed. Here are some photos of “Merlot” before it arrived from Virginia at a vintage car show.

Is a color change in order? Looks good, why don't just leave it.

no color change!

It does look very nice for a driver, but not good enough. Will get the royal treatment like all my cars.

carpet
seals
overiders
spica air filter
door panels
shocks- koni
springs- centerline
suspension kit- polyurethane
glassurit paint
wheels(Turbina)
SS Exhaust system-alfa bb
seats
shift knob
tires
radio antenna speakers delete
calibrate all gauges
new mirrors
new grill
new euro tail lenses
heel and toe kit-shankle
new restored dash
throw out bearing
slave cylinder
brake master cylinder
drive shaft support stuff
clutch pivot
emblems
undercoat
etc
plus plus plus
It drives very fast right now.I guess the shankle headers and the sperry stage 2 head make the extra HP.

Paint preference

Glasurit

This paint is more $$$ but well worth it in the long run . Here's an example. Sorry about the uneven fog light ring. It was a very bumpy ride to San Diego!

Can you spray that stuff with a normal respriator or do you need a suit with an outside air source? Do you know of or have considered Sikkens paint products?

Glassurit paint is excellent stuff. Sprays very evenly, smooth and looks really good. Its a base coat clear coat system so you still need a full suit and helmet supplied with fresh air to shoot it. I had the fortune to shoot a little of it a while back. Great stuff.

'name says it all' is an understatement. Pretty soon there'll be a Museo Storico-Manuel.
