noob lookin for an alternative to alfaholics...

Hello all.
Just picked up my 73 gtv on Saturday, I do love these cars. As everyone knows these italian ladies like to spend $$$. I don't really have too much extra right now, but will soon and would like to make some performance upgrades.
I have done a little H.W. and seems like the order for me will be as follows;
1. brakes
2. suspension
3. exhaust
Are there any comparable suspension kits to the Alfaholics ones? of course their website makes it sound like it is the best one out there.... I would love not to get shafted by the weak dollar, are there any suppliers in the US that are as good?
Any recommended kits?
Driving will be weekend/road/maybe a trackday... I would greatly appreciate any and all info. Any other info about suppliers is appreciated (I have read the supplier thread)
Thanks a bunch for your time

The Alfaholics stuff is expensive, but I must admit that I have been quite pleased with the suspension kit, headers and exhaust system I purchased from them last year for my 74 GTV.

For the use you are describing, the springs/shocks kits that Centerline and International sell will probably meet your needs. With that said, the Alfaholics stuff is really top notch. If you have weak dollars to burn, and have to have the best, you should probably stick with Max.

If you're looking at shipping from Europe you could consider EB spares, Classicalfa, Highwood. Doesn't help you with the weak dollar though.

If Ward & Deane suspensions are still available(?), that would be my suggestion.

I have the Centerline springs front and rear. I can't complain. I need a couple of other things to make it really handle well on track but its fine on the street.

I have 3 wheel visions of me and my gtv with the alfaholics suspension setup. my track knowledge on 4 wheels is limited... 2 wheels a different story. I do not think I can justify the expense and getting reamed on the exchange rate for the AH setup... so centerline?
Car i running well, and it came with every receipt since knew which is cool. Thanks to those that responded... If there is any other advice for domestic(for me) suspension or exhaust kits, please let me know.
Thanks fellow alfisti

I'm very happy with the Centerline springs and red Koni shocks. My '73 GTV handles well and rides firm but comfortable. For brakes stock rotors and calipers coupled with agressive pads (Carbotech?) work well in the twisties, but I'm not treating public roads like a race track. There's a great exhaust system sold by Simon, our board's host. It's stainless and sounds great. Made by Magnaflow. Click on the announcement at the top of this forum page.

I don't know what your budget is, but this is my combination and I am extremely pleased with it.

Spider/GTV Springs

Front Koni Reds
(note: you have to buy two, they don't come in pairs.)

Rear Koni Reds
(note: you have to buy two, they don't come in pairs.)

Slotted and drilled rotors

Disc Brake Pads

Original type exhaust Front/center section

Orig. Type Exhaust Rear section

Hope this helps, and welcome to the BB!

try the exchange rate from Australia (or even New Zealand!) Currently 46/47 pence to the AUD...and it's a lot more expensive to ship here than to the US! You'll usually find that any cheap modifications cost you more in the long run, so be prepared to pay more in the first place to get stuff that works, wherever you get them from

Brakes: Rebuild calipers, performance pads, and surface rotors if within spec

Suspension: Centerline, International, and many other suppliers.

Exhaust: AlfaBB Stainless Magnaflow, the way to go!!!
