1,432 per the link on this forum, but is that total

2000 GTV production for 1974 or just for North America? Any idea on how many of these rare gems are still in existence? (ie, is the some kind of registery for them?)

I don't have my Fusi book here at work but the Squadra GTV database has 115.01's ranging from a '72 that is about the 150th one made to a late '74 that is about the 5300th, so I'd say there are less than 6000 total. I believe at least 3000 of these were '74s.

It doesn't have the year by year breakout, but according to the November 2003 issue of Ruoteclassiche, 2,476 US 1750 GT Veloces were produced and 6,337 2000 GT Veloces were produced. No attribution for these numbers is included in the article.

Ciao,

Thanks, here's the link indicating production was

1,432 for that year. Just don't know if it is a total number or North American only production number.

Also, since I'm a new to GTV, is a 1974 2000 GTV considered a "Guilia?" or just a 105.21? What differentiates the same?

A GTV is part of the Giulia family. A US 2000 GTV is a 115.01, a rest of world 2000 GTV is a 105.21. With the 2L cars, Alfa changed the model numbers for US Giulias to 115, the rest of world remained 105's. There are exceptions of course with the 1600 Junior Z. I will post some ARI (US Alfa Importer prior to ARDONA) documentation I have that has serial number ranges by model year later and we should be able to determine. Alternatively, someone could write Elvira at the Archive and see if she can help.

Ciao,

Thanks for the info...it seemed like...

Every site I went to stopped mentioning the 115 as a Guilia about the time they introduced the 2L. Didn't know if it became a separate and distinct line or why the term "Guilia" was disinfranchised regarding the 115's.

Serial numbers for old Italian cars are quite fun. According to D'Amico & Tabucchi's Alfa Romeo Production Cars 1910-1996, serial numbers for 115.01's for 1973 begin with 3021718 and end with 3022800. 1974 begins with 3023001 and ends with 3023900. They also list 1975 as 3025901 - 3027089. This leads me to dout D'A and T's numbers as there were no 1975 115.01's. I also have a copy of a Vehicle Identification List from ARI (marked CONFIDENTIAL) that has 1973 US GTV's starting with serial number 3021501. 1974 begins with 3023001 but has no end number or 1975 edition with a starting serial number. The 49 State Alfetta GT takes over in 1975. Like I said before, it might be interesting to send Elvira an email and see what numbers she comes up with. One could also send an email to the guy in NYC who is the keeper of the 2000 GTV register and see what ranges he has.

my 74 seems to fall in the black hole between 74 and 75 on D'A and T's serial number lists. it is 3024284 and was manufactured on june 24, 1974.... purchased by the original owner in sept. 74.

Elvira.ruocco@alfaromeo.com. I think ArchivioStorico@alfaromeo.com will work as well.

Cheers,

Got the number today from the seller. Problem, doens't seem to mesh Gianni's post. The number is as follows: AR3025958. Anyone have any useful clues? It's titled as '74, but was not originally titled until '75.

Actually, it seems to fall into the '1975' range that I originally mis-typed (since corrected). I've posted a question about the '1975' serial number range to the Alfa Digest, hopefully one of the hardcore historians will be able to shed some light on D'A & T's 1975 115.01's. 1974 was the last year of the GTV in the States due to the change in crash standards for 1975 which led to the ugly (IMHO) big rubber bumpers on the 1975 Spider as compaired to the 1974 Spider. Don, what is the build date of your car?
