GTV Trunk details & Fuel cell

Since the tank on my 72 GTV is off having the rust boiled out of it, I started to see if I could tidy up my trunk - taking care of some small patches of rust, etc. The car has had nothing in the trunk - no carpet, no padding, no nothing - since I've owned it. I was curious as to how others have finished out their trunks - especially the area behind the tail lights. I've searched the galleries, but haven't seen any GTV trunk glamor shots.

Also, is a fuel cell a cost effective option for a street Spica car? A friend suggested it, but I feel the plumbing headaches may outweigh the cost of a new tank. (should it come to that).

I'm pretty partial to the multi-piece stock rubber mats. One piece of which covers the area behind the tail lights.

IMO, switching to a fuel cell in a street car is pointless. I'd also think that the cost of a fuel cell and labor to install and plumb it would far exceed that of just a new fuel tank.

Here are some pictures of the original trunk mats in my '72. They're a little worn but all there. The original trunk carpet is a light grey felt type material - I have it but it's filthy so I use the cheap nylon loop mat you see in the photos.

Nice pics, Joe.

Which, after I saw them, I realized I didn't post a pic with my reponse.
These are the original style black mats in this '67.

Note the position of the original jack .... on the exhaust side (or fuel tank side) of the car!. We discussed this some time ago and I posted a picture from an original manual. This is the first time I have seen it for real!

Interesting.
