GT1300 Jnr queries
Im new to this board and have a few queries about the 1300 Jnr.
I am in the process of purchasing an excellent 71 1300 Jnr. Can anyone explain the changes between the Series 1 and 2 Juniors? Ive done some searching through this board but havent found anything specific to these cars.
Does anyone here have a concours 71 1300 Jnr? The car I am looking at has been modified with a 2L, chrome delete, panasport alloys etc but comes with all its original parts including the original 1300 block and head. I need some reference pics on how the car would have looked when delivered new.
The car currently has later 2L seats and a prototipo fitted. These pics are from carpoint. Is this interior correct for a 71 Jnr (pics are from a 69 but dont know if the car is accurate)?
Thanks for any/all assistance.

I have a 70 step nose with the 1750 type dual pod instument cluster series 2, as well as a 71 smooth nose junior, with a 1750 dual pod cluster series3. The pictured dash looks like a series 1 junior dash.Use the search function to find the threads about the differences between juniors series 1 thru 4 a lot has been written and posted before. You can also send the vin# to alfa and they will send you back info on your car like production date and original colour.

Thanks. I have been searching but the answer Im looking for is a bit unclear maybe due to the fact that there are few original cars still running around. The car has all its original books and delivery docs so dont need that info.
What Im looking for is whether the seats and the steering wheel in the pictures from the '69 above would be correct for a '71 1300 Jnr as delivered in Oz.
If anyone has pics of an original Australian delivered '71 Jnr that would be excellent as I may look to restore back to 'as factory'.
Cheers.

I think the answer is YES.
I have the brochure for the late type Junior Spider and Coupe. The seats are identical to those picture above, but as blacklotus states the cars have the 1750 style dual pod dash.
Where's the prospective purchase located?

Thanks. The car has later 2L seats fitted which I find a bit plush for the car. The minimalist seats of the junior I think suit it better.
I was thinking I may install some nurburgring seats from GTS Classics. Anyone have these fitted in a 105? I know quite a few of the early 911 guys have them and they are quite popular. Product Detail Page
The purchase is not really prospective, I already own it, just dont physically have it yet! Car is in sydney and will likely have it in a week or so after a couple minor repairs that a ppi showed up. It is an early S3 smooth nose 1300 with small lights and 1750 dash.
Im adding the 105 to my '75 911 Carrera 2.7

Reason: To remove the 911 pic!

GT1300 Jnr queries
I had a new '71 1300 GT Junior it had a 3 spoke steering wheel and dual pod instruments, the seats had headrests which could be wound up and down. It was Red with tan interior. Worse luck, no photo's of the interior.

Was that a plastic 3 spoke wheel or wood? Were the seats the later type 2000 seats or the same shape as the ones in the pic above but with headrests?

Those seats are nice ... not too dissimilar from the original version offered by (amongst others) Auto Epoca in Italy.

Hello blacklotus99, Automobilismo Storico just recently confirmed that my car is a series 2. Here are a couple of pictures of the interior. Hope they help.

My 1969 GT Junior 1300
Some more pictures of my car in its original configuration. It is supposed to be an original car with 1 owner.

From memory it was black plastic and the seats were like the later style with adjustable headrests and the bracket for the headrests were made from laminated timber and the car was bought new. It had twin 40mm Dellortos and twin power brake boosters. the headlamps had a lever to adjust to compensate for weight in the back seat or boot.

Those pics are excellent. I notice the S2 has the three spoke wood wheel and later style seats which the S3 has also.
The steering wheel issue is a bit of a mystery. Plastic 2 or 3 spoke or wood 3 spoke all on either S2 or S3 cars 70-71/2.
I guess there are 3 questions that arise:
1. Was the interior equipment specific to a particular market?
2. Were the seats/wheel part of an optional equipment pack or separate options?
3. Or, could this just be a 'random' factory fit?
Coming from porsche land, the options are all well known and it is unusual to see cars with mismatched original equipment out of the factory. Parts fitted after delivery is another issue obviously.

Alfa wasn't particularly concerned about that stuff... what was available was used.

I have the original owners manuals for the 1300 Junior and interestingly on page 20 it says "The two-spoke steering wheel has a horn control in each spoke". Shows pictures of the plastic two spoke also.
Bottom of page 20 and 21 it talks about the front seats, they are the bucket seats with no headrests.
Also says for the rear seat that the "Bench or sofa type seat is provided optionally". Does this mean one could have ordered a car with a rear seat delete or the rear seat was an optional extra?
