blpltGTV, I got my buddy going out there with $350.00 CASH! so you better hurry because I want to get some shoe laces and I dont think I can go without those, so if you show up with 353.50 and the car is gone, then you know you are just too slow on the draw buddy!

I don't want to buy this car, I have enough projects as it is. I was going to go check it out incase someone else might be interested. Infact, I will be taking a look at another Alfa that has either black or yellow Ca. plates tomorrow afternoon. The price for that car might be even better. I'm a little concerned about rust with it however. Its been sitting in an outside barn for a long long time. It will however need a new/larger engine as 1300ccs just doesn't do it for me, and only half of the engine is there.

I believe this is the same car that kicked around West Oakland and Emeryville some years ago. Pretty scabby the one time I saw it parked on the street. The fenders are flared a bit too?

Just pulling your leg a little
I was just thinking about how funny it would be if there were a bidding war for this car and an extra $2.50 was the diff that sealed the deal. my buddy has seen this car around as well and he is looking for a gtv so I said 'buy it for no more then 3 or 4" as no matter how 'acceptable' the car looks from 20 feet away, its still an 'open' car that more then likely has been rain on a bunch -so the interior is a big question, and the sheet metal is going to be stretched and twisted a bit from the 'experiment' so I bet the body panels will all be off a little thus making the effort foolish.
What about this 1300? sounds good. if you pass on it, keep me in mind cause Im running out of things to do on the 74.
Update : my fan blew apart last week and took the hood and rad with it!!!
I now have things to do.

gtv
way back in the late 80's and early 90's, a guy in the oakland hills would regularly advertised "fully restored" alfas at the san francisco chronicle for about $3,000 to $5,000. i think this was one of his masterpieces! i guess he wanted around $4,000 at that time for this beauty!
had i purchased it then, my wife would have kicked me out of the house sooner! hmmm...on second thought, i should have! LOL!

Exploding fans, not good. As for the 1300 sprint, its from the same source as my GTV, however the car isn't his. Its been sitting in his barn for decades, but the owner hasn't done anything with it so it sits and will continue to do so until I do something with it. No one else will have a chance to until well after its too late to save. Do I need another project, no, I need to finish the Datsun first. I can't stand to see and know the Sprint is rusting away. The quick look I took when I picked up the GTV says that there is still hope. the interior is all there and not destroyed, just dirty and dry. It might come back if I'm very careful. The only rust I saw was on the nose where it had been attacked by something at some point. The paint was removed as if to fix it, but the repairs were never done. I might get lucky and find that its surface rust that can be removed carefully with a grinder or aggressive sandpaper. The engine is missing its head (could be in the trunk) as well as everything attached to it. I don't know where the hood is, but it could be in the barn someplace. I don't know if its a 750 or 101, it does have a 4spd (what one I don't know). Since its been sitting on dirt for the last however many years, the underside could be completely rotted out. Its a dry climate, and the rest of the car looks pretty good. I think the paint might even come back (Its white). I will start a post when I find out more.
As for the fake GTC, I'll go and take a good look at the car. If your friend is local and serious, I'd be happy to run over with him and look at it. If so shoot me an email and I will give you my phone # to give to him.

C'mon $900??? Make the guy an offer for $500, take it home remove all the interior, slap on fabbed roll bar, race seat, put on a lot of stickers to make up for the bad paint, and take it to the track, pick up what falls off.
I wouldn't spend a lot of time analyzing all the past transactions. Good luck to whoever buys the car!! Looks like a good deal if you're not going to try to restore the car. Maybe a high school project for car shop?

Gotta agree with 91spider - $900 for any running GTV has got to be worth it in parts alone - just the bumpers are worth $4-500 in good condition.

I agree that it's worth $900 as a parts car. $500 would be better.
But I would caution anyone who expects to put this thing back on the road: the expense of repairing the cut-off roof, plus whatever additional body needs the thing has will make the project more expensive and time consuming than starting with an un-cut body. My guess is that this thing had a rough body to begin with, because who in their right mind would hack up a clean GTV?
And, don't even think about driving it as-is - a lot of reinforcements were made by the factory to produce genuine GTC's - it takes more than just sabre sawing the roof off a GTV!

Thats why a welded in roll bar/cage would help the integrity. I haven't done it, but would an IAP Spider frame stiffener help out? It still looks like a one off track car candidate to me.
