Some questions for you Alfanatics

OK I'm back in town.
Here are some more photos of engine bay and interior. I know the seats should be switched left to right since this model only had 1 headrest (Passenger side) but my question is for the air filter. Has anyone seen one of these? and can you shed some light. I could swear through the thick paint on it I could see some sort of AR number and it fits the bottom pan very nicely with the 4 clips in the right positions. Also my engine cover (valve cover) looks like its from an early spider 80s. when all this work was done back in 1988 I didn't know anything about these things.

wheels are 13 inches too !!!

My Turbinas are 13 inches too. Did 105 bodied cars ever have those? or are they borrowed from another alfa ? They look like they are magnesium and say "Campantura" on them.

Hi Manuelalfaholic.

The Cam cover is from a 4 cylinder 1983-86 Alfetta GTV, and sedan as sold here in Australia.
Weird air filter set up.
I have seen it before,somewhere.
Does anybody have an information about the air filter set up ?
Maybe your car has a 2 Litre engine fitted.

Sorry,
Your car is a 2 litre.
Maybe i should have looked at the pics before saying something stupid like that.
On the other hand,A few european cars had a 2 litre grille and tail lights, and dash, and had a 1600 engine fitted.
OK,im an aussie, but 2 litre cars sold here had the above only.
Overseas,it was available in 1600,with 2 litre grills etc.
Another look at the pic= 2 litre grill,2 litre taillights,1600 dash.
Yes,its one of those cars, with different bits, not sold in Australia.
Amazing the differences they did for the world wide market.

Robert

Alfetta Motor

I believe you are correct about the motor. Yes my car does have a 2L motor and it is very possible that my mechanic sourced it from an Alfetta back then. I still have no real info concerning the air filter set up for my weber carbs. Thanx Manuel......

Manuel,

That is one nice looking GTV. When I go back home for a visit I am definitely borrowing your car, nothing else will satisfy me.
Did you take more pictures, I miss those narrow roads and hills, just right for the Alfa.

Giorgio

I personally have always liked the more minimalist interiors on the various juniors throughout production. The lack of console and simply a small gauge pod looks great!

Junior 1600

Thanx you guys for the kind words, I had a really fun time driving this car around, it brought back some very fun memories. The torque on it is very nice and the fact that it has euro cams and a lightened flywheel plus some machining on the webers was evident of the advanced power. I was carving those hills very nicely (Giorgio68) knows how twisty they are.

FWIW, the air filter set-up is an oil bath type for dusty conditions. They were common for South Africa, Namibia, etc. They do rob top end power.
