Hang on a second. I said in an earlier post that the Porsche rebuild kits did not include the seals for the valve. Please check with a local Porsche shop and ask them.

Rosanno,
Jon Norman fixed me up with a rebuild kit for my tandem MC. I takes two kits from other single cylinders. They are very knoledeable and have good inventory.

This might be a fairly inexpensive way to find out: eBay Motors: Porsche 914 Master Cylinder (item 7997144579 end time Jan-18-08 12:31:11 PST)

These guys have a used cylinder with two new rebuild kits for $60:
Untitled Document

Good luck!

Long story short, two parts are on order from Porsche. Hopefully one of them will be the correct seal.

The above pictured M/C BTW was fitted to the 68-73 911/912 and the 70-72 914-6.

...not to worry Osso, the part supplier I spoke to is aware of what I'm after and is going to see if the kit he may have in stock has the seal I'm looking for....this shop specializes in the German cars.

Thanks

...glad that you confirmed that Jim....while I was inquiring with another Porsche mechanic I told him I was looking for a used MC for a '71 914 (I got the impression he didn't seem too interested in Italian marques). I'm crossing my fingers as well for the seals you've ordered.

Well, the search continues....

This email is to inform you of the status of your order.

Unfortunately, we recently discovered that one or more of the parts you ordered are No Longer Available (NLA). These are:

OEM-91435591100 Boot***NLA

OEM-91135591500 Boot***NLA

Karl.....not sure about the condition of that MC...looks like it's been out of commission for quite a long time (plus that $19.00 bucks will be at least double that by the time I add shipping and taxes). I'll try to dig around some of the Porsche specialty shops around here first.

Jim...are those part numbers for the rebuild kits for the respective MC's? If so I can phone around locally and quote these part numbers.

The part numbers are for two separate individual parts. I don't know if these are Porsche part numbers or those of the vendor. But I think it's worth a try making a call or two.

Rossano,
Have you tried Mantis Automobile in Oakville? They are primarily a Porsche shop but do work on Alfas once in a while.

Those are Porsche part numbers. The first three numbers represent the model, 914 and 911. The 914 has a 17mm MC and the 911 has a 19mm MC.

The Final word...

Some of you may remember that a few years ago I contacted Ate to get some technical information on the 1969 dual circuit master cylinder. Remembering their willingness to help, I contacted the Sales Manager of Ate in the US. I inquired about seals for the DPW. The Sales Manager forwarded my request to Germany and got the following response:

Actually, the master cylinder was taken out of the ATE program in summer 2007. Unfortunately, there are no replacement seals or any rebuild kit for this brake master cylinder. However, we will give Brian the possibility to purchase one single master cylinder. This cylinder will be build only for him at our sub contractor. The price will be around 250 Euro plus shipping, duty etc. If he is interested, he should order the following

Part Number: 03-3525-0301-3 (see picture attached)

This is not exactly the answer I was hoping for, but it is rather interesting that they would volunteer to make me a new one. This is not the first time that they have offered. So, I am wondering if subcontractor has access to all of the molds, etc necessary to build ne brake components for our cars.

I plan to follow up with the contact and see what he can do to help us.
