Considering my father has been unwell I have had some engineering friends donate some time assemble and modify my 2ltr engine...below are the pics of my engine, for those with a keen eye and an appreciation for tooling, you will notice the artwork machining on the head...I now have twin spark per chamber as per original GTA configuration. I have also made new cam modifications, new water pump, oil pump (which is alreay hidden a way in the oil sump), new chains and have clear powder coated the front chain cover and oil sump for cosmetic touch.

Still waiting on the 100amp alternator, reduction gear starter motor and the optronic electronic ignition comimng from Pwerlite in the UK...the gearbox has already been completely rebuilt and will be attaching the the engine shortly....ready for the chassis to recieve.

All bottom end crank shaft and conrod fittings have been machined and balance beautifully with the clutch assembly attached...

we are getting there!!

Quite the serious engine mods Frank! What is your plan for the car exactly (fast track car or sleeper road car?).

Very nice work indeed! It looks like the upper oil pan and perhaps the head have been powdercoated as well- true?

Did you ever find and AC unit that would fit to your liking?

What have you built up the inlet ports with? And how much 'meat' do you think you have between the water jacket and the area of the port where you've obviously removed a lot of metal?

Hi FMD159,

I have no association with Speedy Air, but I have had email correspondence with them because I'm thinking about installing their underdash heater/cooler evaporator (12V Heat & Cool Concealed Unit: Speedy Air Spares).

The heater unit in my '69 GT 1300 Junior is knackered... so that's as good an excuse as any to install air con ... not to mention the occasional 45 degree celcius summer days in Melbourne.

Speedy advise overall dimensions for the heater/cooler unit of 400mm width x 155mm height x 325mm depth.

I made up a mock-up cardboard box of these dimensions. Based on this, it seems that the unit should fit up under the dash of a 105 Alfa (ie step front without a centre console, at least), in place of the standard Alfa heater unit. Add a condensor, compressor, reciever/dryer and the required plumbing, and off you go... sounds easier if you say it fast

Cheers,

Nick

You might also try Vintage Air out of San Antonio, Texas. They specialize in street rods but I'm sure they could help you with a custom set up.

Hi Derek,

Will do! It'll be just one more job on the long road to my Twin Spark engine transplant.

Cheers,

Nick

Thats fantastic solution..just confirming, I have the centre console in my 69 model are you suggesting that this unit will replace the exisitng heater unit / concealed and I can use the original switching..

Would you integrate the original slider to controle the flaps and air flow (as per the second image below), and is the idea that the unit sit inside the original casing? (see attached)

it will be a street car...and the engine configuration (the secret is in the CAM config) will allow you to drive the vehicle mildly for day to day driving, but will open up when the foot gets heavy!!
