ok guys...
I have now have organised my rear lens assemblies...with thanks to Papajam for his sale of Original Carello lenses...I have re-threaded the original LHS and RHS steel backing plates, (had to carefully drill out the 30year old rusted screws that had snapped inside the mounting points) and have sent this off with the chrome surround trim to be completely rechromed...once they are all married together with the lenses...I will package these and put away waiting for the day when the body comes back from the spray painter (in 7 months)...
My next small sub project are the front indicator assemblies, polish up and refurbish the lenses...Im a little confused though.. ..below I have attached an image of the LHS and RHS assemblies...the bottom one has a stainless steel base assembly and the top on does not....have I simply have a piece missing or is one from one model and the other suit for another model?? Can someone provide some advice here....

The top one was used on the 1750 Berlina and the bottom one was used on the 1750 GT Veloce 1st series only.

Hey Alex.
This morning, while looking in the kids toy box,
I found a bottom half Altissimo lens LH with part number 378.12.97,,IGM 2845 LPX.
Does this help?
Its second hand, but would polish up well.

Hey FMD,
Last night, when I went to visit my mother,I opened up the knife and fork drawer and found the other side stainless steel spacer you are missing for the front indicator assembly.
I think she was using it for her home made biscuits. There were 3 of them there.Im sure she wont miss one.
Pm me if you need one.
Robert

Hey Robert,
I'm never going to be eating at your place.
Never know what you might get served up inside the chocolate cake.
Just be careful opening the overhead cupboards.

hey AndrewO
Im still alive after eating the chocolate cakes.
Talking of chocolate cakes,i was looking through my mums recipe cook books and found a strange book in a cardboard box.
Opened the box and inside it was an Afa Romeo Allegarita book(sorry about the spelling).
Its the book about GTA Alfas with the blueprints inside.Never opened.
I asked her what i was dooing in her recipe cupboard,,and she said she thought it was a book about loosing weight. She was right.
Yes,I took that book home.
I better stop opening cupboards i think.
And Andrew,You have been at my place.Do you have time to show me how to put pics on here ?
Robert

G'day Robert,
You'll find that adding pics is easy mate.
To add a pic, you need to first click on the Go Advanced button below the Quick Reply box. (cos' to add pics you need to make an advanced reply, not a quick one )
It's simple from here. Click on the Attachment button in the toolbar above the reply box - the button that looks like a paper clip.
That'll open a small new window.
Click on the Browse button, which will open Explorer on your computer to allow you to locate and select the pic you want to attach.
Once you've found the pic, click on the Upload button, and wait a few seconds until an icon with the name of the selected pic appears in that same little window, then either repeat to upload some other pics, or if you're finished you just need to close that small window.
Go back to the reply, finish typing and click Submit Reply.
All done, and we can see the pics of your unusual silverware.
Cheers,
-Col-

WOW, talking about hitting the jackpot! I don't know what else your family keeps in their kitchen cupboards, but I can tell you my mom certainly does not have any of these nice surprises.

Hi Robert,
There's a testing area on the forum boards (just above the Australian forum on the main page) and you can start threads there and post pictures of your kitchen utensils. (I wondered why you were using a knife to undo the screws on my seats!) Try it out there to see how it works.
Any problems give me a call and I can pop round on my way to mum's kitchen up the road.

Just looked in my kitchen cupboards and found a series 1 1750 LH taillight assembly New,Carello, long reflector, with part number on the lens-12.367.717,and part number on the long lens-12.366.718.Other numbers-iIGM 5193 IP - MADE IN ITALY,etc.
Also found an ALTISSIMO LH lens-NEW, with numbers 25.8527 on the main lens, and on the long lens 22.0300.
Wow,also found an even earlier lens,CARELLO , 1964 era,New,LH,part number 12.461.717 SAE STD 62, with a reflector 12.562.718.
Oh,and another one,the same as above ,with no reflector.
All above items are NEW.
Just opened another kitchen cupboard and found a few Altissimo + Carello L+R backings second hand for series 1 -1750.and a few series 2.
I suppose i better sell all the above so wife will have more storage room in her kitchen cupboards.
Maybe I better not open any more kitchen cupboards?
If you dont have any luck finding any of the above, give me a call.

Hi Robert,
I would be interested in the early Carello lens 12 461 717. I just have to make sure it is the right one. Will PM you later.
Cheers, Dave.

Sounds good.
Did you want the lens with or without the reflector and i have 2 lenses.
They look great when they are new.

Thanks for the clarity Takis ...I have been able to resolve this by adding the appropriate spacer as advised and supplied by Giulia_Veloce...thanks mate
I will begin to polish these items up and now I move onto my next little testing question...the Hand break assembly......anyone have any ideas regarding a non destructive method on how you get that plastic handle off the rod...I have the parts manual but its not 100% clear.....and would appreciate someones instruction...
The culprit below, it looks like its fastened with an Allen key..but it doesn't seem to be clear and its very stiff any smart ideas on how to leverage this off:

Steering Wheel Resurrection
Hello guys
I just picked up my steering wheel and its with great satisfaction that I have been able to save something special that was originally sitting in a dark and dingy corner of a damp shed, full of cracks and black body fat stained in the timber...
It was well worth the $200 and I now have an original, beautiful item..

By the way guys....you will notice that I don't have the center acrylic badge that sits in the center of the steering cap...the original is cracked but looks like it could be saved if the clear acrylic could be removed.... any ideas?
Or does anyone have one in good condition that I could purchase from?
I ordered a replacement one from the UK but it is completely inferior, it is literally just a sticker…and the monogram is produced of some kind of foil (which has a very poor reflective quality to it) embedded in the resign…I was expecting something similar in dimension to the original and at least close to the finished quality……
But I cannot use it as a centerpiece for my beautiful steering wheel….
