tyres

Hi,

I know my wheels aren't original but what about the size. I have no manual to check.

The tyres on the car are 165/14. Is this the original size or wider?

What pressure should these be at? 26-28 all round? They were at 20 and steering was too heavy so I have set them to 28.

Thanks.

The tyre size is the original dimentions. They are hard to find to-day (exept for some reinforced van tyres). Popular size to day is 185/70-14, 195/65-14 for the original 5½" and 6" wide rims. Some with 6" or 6½" goes 205/60, I would think this makes the steering to heavy for parking etc.
Pressure is set, in my Spider 1970 manual, at 24,2 psi front and 25,6 rear; 20/24,2 with Michelin XAS. I use 25,6/27 (1,8/1,9 bar) with my 185/70-14 steel radials.
