Alex,

I really wish the car looked as good in real life as it does in the pictures. I finally received the last pieces for my suspension upgrade, and I have my new wheels (thanks Anthony!), now all I need is enough warm weather that I can get the car out of storage and into my garage to tackle the suspension swap. I am shooting for early April..... I can hardly wait. If I can convince the wife that going further in debt is a good thing, I'd like to redo the interior (not headliner and carpet yet) before I take it to the convention. So many plans, so little money!
Come on Spring!!!!!!

I'd love to find out what Sports Car Market values our Bertone coupes at.
From the March 2004 SCM. The prices are for cars in very good to near excellent condition. #2 on the 1 - 6 condition scale, 1 being *the best* and 6 parts cars. The prices are set by US sales activity:

66-68 Sprint GT Veloce $8.5K - $14K
69 1750 GTV $8K - $10K
70-74 1750/2000 GTV $9K - $13K

The 1750 is a modern car that still hangs on to some lovely 60's concepts, that makes it the pick of the bunch for me.

The 2000 was an attempt to update an old design that had really run for too long.

Thus from a practicality point of view a nice young 2ltr would be the way to go or if you were going racing, but if you want the classic Alfa and 60's feeling experience go for the 1750 mk2.

Why mk2, well the mk1's have the really cool seats but they also have the old fashioned and dangerous single circuit brakes ... thus a single failure and NO brakes.

The interior of the 1750 is just sooo cool and is really classic where IMO the 2000 interior had modern bits that don't fit in well with the rest of the car as a 60's design.

The big tail lights of the 2ltr also hide more of the lovely reverse curved rear ...

Anyway that is why I am restoring a 1750 mk2 ... and I do not care which is more sensible to restore, financial gain or whatever, I'm doing it because it really is my dream car ...

Pete

See? Like I said, most 'die-hard' Alfisti prefer the 1750.

How comw there isn't anyone here standing up for the rights of the stepnose cars? Where the heck is Kai? Or someone who just loves the 2L cars? Ken?

Heck, I like them all! Each one for a different reason though!

Enjoy yours!

I think the 2L GTVs look a little more "hotrodded" than the 1750s. The dash particularly looks like Darth Vader's command center.

the 1750's have a nice clean look, but 2L look great with their alloy wheels and such, of course 30 Years later, any part can be swapped and those hub caps look cooler than ever.

Anyone have a GTV project they want to sell me???
Trade for my nice 83 Spider--31,000 orig. miles?

Anyone...

Nah, it leeks a bit, and the beach would rust its already rusty body even more, besides we are having a heat wave at present today it got to 102 F and Saturday and sunday it will be 105.5 F (41C), you would fry in it. I drove my 1750 to work today and came home in a sea of sweat. Not fun

Anyway there are a few big black spiders loose in the Sprint GT. I guess they are ALFA spiders HA bloody ha

Thanks for the thought! It gets hot here too. I almost went to the Sunshine Coast last August, but it was Europe instead.

I'd still like to go, also to NZ if the Hobbiteers haven't ruined it.

The cool wheels on the 2000 is also available on the 1750. I just think that they tried to update it too much, the leap in styling between the 1750 and the 2000 was too much to soon, perhaps there should have been an interum model between the 1750 and the 2000 in terms of styling that had the power of the 2000 but wasn't such a dramatic leap in styling from the 1750. the two cars really do look different when seen together. As I am writing this I heard a familar sound and spotted a blue 2000 drive by that I had never seen before, strange, I never see too many 105' s around these days.

I agree with PSK, buy a 1750 S2 and thank us later. You know it makes sense

Yeah, I have a soft spot for free revving engines and hub caps. Also the twin instrument pods, and center console look nicer.
But ohhhh to find one around here for less than a leg, or one that has some legs left.

Sorry Alex, I would kill (almost) to get my 69 Euro GTV back. I like the extra grunt of my 2 litre, but I think that more a result of it's shorter gearing (4.10 vs 4.56). I really notice it around town. The interior of the 69 is much more comfortable for me too. The one in the front is my old car, my current is the further from the camera. But then I owned a 69 GTV from Feb 1969 until June 2002 (2 different cars), so ....
