Is this a correct engine for my car?

Hello there,
I have a 1972 GT 1300 Junior AR1278071. The car didn't have the original engine when I bought it so I installed a 1300cc AR00530 engine.
The engine's serial number is AR00530*S11941*
I just downloaded the engine production list and if I searched correctly the engine comes from a 1967 GT 1300 Junior. Can someone verify that?
Is this engine correct for my car or are there differences between the 1972 and the 1967 engine?

Thank You.

Been through all this myself recently. The block with the star markings and the S is a later motor. If you looked in Fusi for engine numbers he doesn't cover these, but it's easy to read his numbers as one of yours if you screw your eyes up the right way.

I think the short answer is (your car is a smooth-nose, right?) that your motor is about right, give or take a year.

The letter 'S' prior to the engine's sequential serial number designates an 'emcom' (emission control) engine. The emcon engines differed from the non-emcon engines by having emcon carbs and altered ignition timing. And depending on the engine type, may have altered valve timing. Concurrent with the emcon engines, Alfa also produced 'standardized' engines. The standardized engines were for emission control as well but differed from the emcon engines only in having no emcon carbs.
Standardization of the 1300 engines started with engine number AR00530*M1395* while the emcon engines started with AR00530*S0001*.
Since the 1971 model year Juniors from chassis #1295001 were fitted with engines starting at engine #70000 (Alfa TSB 04.71.2.1), and Fusi does not list letter prefixed 00530 engines in 1972, I would say that your 'S' engine is a year or two newer than the car.
