Cromodora Daytona Question

The picture below shows a closeup of a Cromodora Daytona wheel with center cap. These were on my '73 2000 GTV. My question concerns the center cap. The center emblem is raised relief (3-D image). Was this original for the Cromodoras? Is this emblem/center cap aftermarket? Are they for sale somewhere? I'd like to get a set. Any leads appreciated.

Those Cromodoras are not OEM on Alfas. They are aftermarket. (Campagnolo Turbinas were OEM on the earlier '70s models and Cromodora Turbinas were OEM on later '70s models.) Alfa introduced the Campagnolo Daytonas as OEM in '82, but the Cromodora Daytonas were always aftermarket. That said, these aftermarket wheels are typically fitted with Alfa center caps. You shoud check the usual suppliers, i.e. IAP, Centerline, Vicks, etc.

Best regards,

Thanks for the quick reply. You are correct; the Cromodoras are aftermarket. My question concerns ONLY the emblems. I have not found THESE emblems anywhere, hence the post. I'm looking for folks that may know where they may be purchased; what they were possibly stock on.

The Cromodora Daytonas have had a long production run and have been offered with various style center caps over the years. The style in your picture is IMHO the most desirable style and seems to appear on the early production wheels from the early '70s.

I have also seen:

1) Embossed silver caps with the word "Cromodora" in stylized lettering
2) Flat caps with the Alfa logo silk screened on them.

Joe,

Thanks for that informative reply. I suspected as much but wasn't sure. This '73 GTV was my first Alfa and I sure miss it. It handled and ran so well. I sold it when I was retiring from the Navy and my next career wasn't in the bag. Oh well!

Hi Dale,

You might want to try Frank Hanel: http://www.ar-hanel.de/ for the emblems.
The sell reproductions of the Cromodora Daytona wheel with a litte FH logo on the inside.

regards
marc
