Rear Axle Removal ...

I'm trying to remove the rear end and am working on the trunnion arm mount (where the bushings go on the differential) I removed the castle nut but the sloped sided washer or nut?? wont budge. I seem to remember that this thing doesnt screw off but is just pressed in. Is this right? Any ideas on removing this short of torching the bushings???

Thanks

Try some liquid wrench, maybe some light heat, and work it back and forth with a large set of channel locks or vice grips. That one can be a real bear to work lose, just keep at it.

Thanks for the info...

so this thing isnt threaded on right? Also if I'm switching rear ends does it matter how the drive shaft bolts onto it (some alignment marks)?

Thanks

No, it isn't threaded. As previously mentioned, spray on a penetrating lubricant (like PB blaster, or even wd40) and just get it to spin. It should come off relatively easy after that.

Best of luck.
