Sunday is pic day. I'll post shots of what's there. And I'm sure I'll get nearly flamed for thinking/hoping that these cars can be saved. "Buy the best car you can!" Honestly, my first impression was that they were both goners. Sunday will be final judgement, but the price is right. Something I've learned is that even if a car is "not worth" restoration right now, in twenty years, it may likely be. I can certainly see that being the case with GTVs. At the minimum, I'll preserve them.
Sunday, I'll get under the cars, check trailing arm locations, rockers, tranny tunnel. jacking points, around the windows, etc.

That's pretty much the attitude I bought Junior with. If I don't save it, who will? The repairs will be a bit gypsy, and it won't be pristine, but an owner imported 69 1300 has at least a little mystique to begin with. And in 20 years, who knows?

Pics of the Junior
Here are the pictures of my Junior. Lots of rust underneath, but the structural parts all seem sturdy. The metal around the windows is good. Jacking points are good. The floors in the front and back are junk, as is the metal under the back seat. Whaddaya think?

In the glove box was a "in the bag" Junior badge. I couldn't resist placing it on the rear deck lid. And the car's new home, temporarily anyway. At least it's not in the rain.

That's about the condition mine was in, but you got nice wheels. Be prepared to hand fab a bunch of metal around the wheel wells, and more than you expect on the well rims. I did the floor panel repairs in sections (roughly 12x18" with 16 guage metal. I am also finding a bit more bondo than I had hoped. Good luck. How's the engine?
PS. Get flamed for saving this little beauty? Only by the uninspired, and who gives a crap about them? Besides, with no illusions about restoring its virginity, you'll have a really fun hot rod.
BTW, what was the price?

Good point about the console. I forgot to mention that that console was a custom job some PO did. It's definitely coming out. The motor is a 2000 that was "rebuilt", then driven a few hundred yards before locking up. I took the cam cover off and it looks good in there. Of course, I'll rebuild it, or maybe drop in a 1600 I have. Originality is not that big of a deal to me considering the raw material I have to work with. I also forgot to mention the rearview mirror. It's one of those racing types that go all thw way across.
Thanks for the encouragement!

P.S. So far the price is up to $22. Lunch at Chick-Filet and a can of wasp spray.

Man, that's some rearview mirror. But, you'll probably need it to keep an eye on all the cars you pass.
