New Project 71 1750 gtv
Hi all,
This a 1750 that I purchased a couple of weeks ago, planning a full rebuild
she has some pretty bad rust in the floor and sill area, but who know what I will find when I start pulling back the paint.

Beauty!
What a great looking car. I am working on a '71 GTV here in San Diego, and it is interesting to see all the detail differences between the different markets. Hope you will post some pix as you go along.

Gee, doesn't look so bad in the pictures. I think I'd have to enjoy driving it for a few months before peeling back the paint.

Bill,
Yeah looks ok in the pictures, but pictures can be very deceiving as I am sure that some of you can confirm.
The steering joints are worn to buggery, so it pulls big time under brakes.
and the bad rusty sections appear to have been poorly fixed and therefore have continued to rust.
The donk is also in some serious need of TLC so i felt it was better to take it off the road and fix it propperly first.
I'll post pics as I take her appart. I have a bit of a shortage of garage space at the mo, my dads 240z is getting some minor repairs done, so once we have finished them I can get the alfa in and do some work.

How about posting some pics of the engine compartment? I have a US-Spec '71 with, unfortunately, a Spica.

i'll post some pics of the engine bay tonight when I get home,
not much to look at at the mo.
But its stock and I don't think that anything has been touched, the previous owner deffinately did nothing, as he did not seem too mechanically minded
Full rebuild planned though, probably will keep it a 1750 as I think they hold there value better, but I am not sure.

???Unfortunately??? Spica is a great system and easy to keep in tune. More often than not, (not anyone here of course...  people don't bother to tune the system as it should be. A PROPERLY tuned Spica system is fantastic. This is a SEQUENTIAL high pressure injection system. It wasn't until the 90's when electronic systems were starting to go sequential... Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled program...

Looks like a cracker Bruce. Glad to hear it is gonna get some love. Definitely keep it as a 1750 engine, it will hold its value better in the long run, but most of all it is a sweet engine.
Oh, and its nice to see cars migrating north instead of south which has been the trend of late!

I'd keep the 1750; I have two of them, and they are indeed sweet.

A brother inlaw bought a 2000GTV (sold now BTW) and spent ages getting all the electrical things to work, kept asking me questions and I kept saying 'gee I've never ever seen one of these where X worked ... and who cares, etc.' In the end it drove him a little (more) batty, but he did get it all to work. Congrats to him, but all I kept hearing was the list of all the faults, which to a real Alfisti would have been completely ignored  , especially once flung into the first corner . I grew to dislike the fact that he owned an Alfa, and I'm glad he flicked it ... now I do not have to listen anymore to 'why the heck would anybody buy one of those ... stupid car, etc.' from his wife, family, etc.
Some people should just buy new ...
