A jr that will be very special!
This is a new one for the Alfa rehab center. The owner has big plans. H.p. motor (twin spark) cage, and a nice racing livery. It is a 1971 step nose jr. I will keep you updated of it's progress.

Daron, I guess the "Alfa Rehab Center" may stick, huh? A perfectly appropriate nickname! Can't wait to watch your progress on this Jr.

Its all about having fun. Different people do it in different ways, otherwise it just gets boring! Peter.

Yes I can appreciate that, but nobody on this site is restoring a GTjr and keeping it original, if they are not putting in larger engines, they are widebodying them, or GTA replicating them ... it's such a shame. Why not purchase an old race car, ie. one that's already been bastardised, and then make the dream 105/115 series Alfa?
Atleast bgt_veloce has one .
The thing with 105/115 series Alfas is they tune up so well and also track so well ... but one day if we are not carefull they are all going to be tired out stuffed race cars.

I recently sent a 1300 out of a parts car across Australia for BB member Cucinando to put into his GT Junior. He replaced the 2L or 1750 that was in it and loves the high reving 1300! My Sprint GT will stay with its original 1600 as is my Super.
I think its cool when people change there cars to suit their taste as long as they keep the original stuff in the back of the garage in case there is a change of heart or they sell it

Pete- be nice! we've been down this road before. To each his own! This car is well cared for. And that is more important.

I second those thoughts Akitaman!! To each his own...... it wasn't long ago that many of these great old classic's were on their way to the scrape heap. Just seeing them make another round and being enjoyed by their owner's is enough for me. It's not like it's getting a small block chevy stuffed under the hood and it's rear jacked to the moon........
While I appreciate a stock 1300 GT jr, I aslo enjoy looking at the alfa v-6 in the 105 chassis here on the bb. T.H.

Akitaman,
can you tell us what the proposed colour scheme is for this Junior?

True .
Heck even Ferrari 250 GTO's of '62 vintage are being bastards based on the 'to each to his own' nowadays ... major .

oh, come on Pete!
I respect your opinion, but you don't have to cry for this little GTjr -- it's going to be a lot better off when we're done with it than when I got it. I knew I wanted to do the car "my way" so I shopped far and wide for a stepnose that had already been "tweaked." It had a 1750 engine in it, and some very dubious "restoration" work that I'm sure you will see in the coming posts. In fact, not much under the hood was original.
Besides, folks have been hot-rodding GTVs since the start. Heck, ALFA was in the business of souping them up at the factory! These days a shankle turbo is considered a "period modification" so just wait 15 years and my TS conversion will be considered "vintage." It's not like I'm gonna put a big spoiler on the back or make a low rider out of it.
Here's something else that may make you feel better: I got this car to make a street/track car because I just couldn't bring myself to turn either of my other cars into a track car. They are both completely stock and will remain so for ever if I have anything to do with it. So, 2-to-1 in favor of preservation over hot-rodding isn't too bad.
Cheers,
John

color scheme
Alfa2Go, I'm thinking it will be dark blue -- the original color for the car -- with a white (or maybe yellow) nose. And of course a snake on the hood.

Pete, you always express your opinion as you see fit. I like that about you. I know you well enough to know you mean no harm. BTW, the correct parts for this car are long gone. So the owner is doing the next best thing.
Olycarguy-LOL great statement!
Derek- as you can see the owner (John) has chimed in on the color plan. I'm going to try and convince him the blue/yellow combo is the way to go.
