Shipped '69 GTV Off For Restoration to ............. Washington

Yes, I finally did it. Packed up the GTV and shipped it off to Washington into Akitaman's capable hands for restoration. I would have cried had I not pissed my pants.

This restoration should be interesting because the car is, well, not just one, but at least 2 cars put together - maybe 3. So, the body restoration is way beyond the capabilities of a mortal man - this is a job for Akitaman!

This is my 1st car restoration. Hopefully when I get to my 2nd I will have learned enough from Akitaman's threads (and book ) to be able to attempt a restoration myself.

I have also attached the vision for what the exterior will be restored to.

If you have any recommendations (other than my obvious need to be locked up in a loony bin), please feel free to post or e-mail me. I am all ears.

Thanks for looking!

Akitaman will be doing the body and outsourcing the engine and Spica. I will also have him work on most of the interior - seats, doors, headliner, trim.

It's Skyline Time

Tim,

I was thinking about shipping Akitaman some cans of our wonderful Skyline chili and maybe a shirt. My co-worker and I used to get a case shipped to us in California when I was living there every 6 months or so. The canned stuff just isn't the same.

I like your vision! I am pondering a stripe down the middle of my alfa such as the one in the picture. Red looks fantastic against the silver and I like the way it was done with the three lines...

Mubezzi,

Thanks for the kind words. I have been following your restoration thread for some time now. I saw this picture a couple of weeks ago on the BB and knew that it was the way to go for my restoration. Are you going to go with a blue body with a white stripe or a silver with the red? Isn't yours almost ready to be finished. I will be following it until the end.

Nicke,

Thanks for the kind words. I don't know if you can get unlucky when Akitaman is at the wheel.

The lovely GTV "vision" is owned by Robert Bobardt, a Scuderia Non Originale member who lives in Germany.

Hi Gary. Tom has a "vision" that will be similar to that car, not exact. Besides, I'm holding the paint gun. I would have to put a twist to somewhere.

I think Robert's car looks terrific. Just thought it would be nice to give him credit for creating a GTV many of us enjoy looking at. It will be fun to see your variation on that theme.

Gary,

Your friend Robert has created a wonderful color scheme and I am glad that you shared it with the board so that I was able to determine a direction to go with my restoration.

Thank you!
