Me, too on the 1969. The 1968 has more cutouts.
That car is looking great, Akitaman!

I thought I'd better update this car. It has been to the edge and back, but man it is looking oh so nice.
On the shop tread we have been posting some of it's progress. But I gather folks might not know about that one. Anyway The car is in final prime, the customer went with body color for under coat, and today we colored the engine bay. This color drove me nuts to get right. It's an Italian car color just not an Alfa color. It looks really nice and the sun light really makes it pop!
This Jay applying the tinted texture to the underside.
And the engine bay in body color
Next the suspension gets put back on, and then it heads north to Wes Ingram to have the motor, tranny, custom brake lines and dyno work.

If I can't import my car, I might look at getting you to source a shell, and then fit my freshly overhauled engine, gearbox, suspension and driveline into it, and use all my nice new body panels on it too!!
I'll keep you posted

Once we put the car outside the color really had some pop to it!
The color is from a 60's and 70's Maserati. It has more fine Aluminum then any classic color I have ever seen.

Akitaman,
I see you mounted rear seat belts and reused reinforcements. Why didn't you use the original reinforcements? Some GTVs had rear seat belts, and you could have reused their reinforcements. That is what I did...

FINE Aluminum
Daron,
It must have been the FINE Aluminum that made those old Maserati's so fast....will it make mine faster as well? Joking, of course...
If anyone has not dealt with Daron and his crew - they are a pleasure to work with. They held off on my car when I had some major health issues and have been nothing but professional all the while. Kudos to Vintage Customs!!!
Not being a paint guru, what makes the Al content different than say a normal metallic paint?

Rafael- the cars has a sunroof, 67 gt style parcel tray area and other little things.
Baka! In paint, metallic or not, the binders and blenders make up the majority of the content. Binders and blenders are clear in color. The pigment (tint), level of metal flake (corse, medium or fine) are only a small percentage. In this case the amount of fine aluminum is very high. This makes the paint heavy, and the base coat can easily pull on the vertical. So gun pressure, material rate have to be adjusted to compensate. Back in the day when Maserati made this paint it was a single stage and would have been much easier to deal with.
BTW, I will be painting the inside of the hood today and the car will be ready for Group two, to do the suspension Monday.

Underside coating
What product is Aitkman using for the underside? Is it a tintable bedliner like Shake and Shoot, or something similar? I am just wondering since I am debating whether to completely strip the underside of my GTV or simply recoat it with a tintable bedliner. Thanks

It's called Raptor by a company called U-poll. Most automotive paint store can get it. It's not like bedliner completely. It dries rock hard.
