So what is the story on your 74? What do you want for it? Pictures?

Back From Mexico
I have been busy in Mexico and hadn't have time to get back to this thread.
Fred,
I do not know Lee, but the name sounds familiar. I came to Cincinnati in '87 for college (UC) and ended up staying. I am a native of WV. I pass by OU all the time on my to WV.
Mark,
I was looking at your GTV, but I am looking more for a spare parts car GTV for my '69.
Akitaman,
It will be interesting to see what past sins are under the paint. Can't wait to see the pics.

Engine Work
Below are some pictures of the engine teardown for my GTV that Tom Nuxoll took (thanks, Tom!). Notice the discoloration of one of the piston rods. This will be replaced. Also, there was a notch in the tranny housing. Why is anyones guess, but it will be replaced as well.
The Current Engine Plan:
Stock Borgo 1750 piston/ liner set 9.5:1 compression
Mill the head to get compression to 9.9:1
Ported head and 2 liter intake manifold
stock sized valves cut to 45 degree seats
11+ mm lift intake cam 10.5mm exhaust cam with high lift valve springs
Wes Ingram modified pump
Ingram re-calibrated injectors
Ingram rebuilt thermostatic actuator
All parts balanced (rods, pistons, crank, flywheel, etc)
New water pump
New clutch kit, Al flywheel

I knew that car wasn't a diesel! It just sounded like one. When I get the motor back from Tom (motor Guru) I'll check with you and see what parts you want powder coated. i.e. valve cover, head nuts........

That extra notch in your bellhousing
Baka4Alfa:
Man that's weird! Did the notch look like it was cut with a saw, or like it was broken out by an impact? I'm going to guess the former, because it looks too rectangular to be the result of an accident. Isn't it odd how previous owners butcher up our cars? Someone should outlaw previous owners' right to posess power tools.
I am trying to guess what possible purpose might be served by enlarging the throw-out fork hole in that direction. I have heard of cutting a hole at the bottom of the bellhousing, and re-positioning the pivot, to allow a 2 liter bellhousing and clutch to work in an earlier chassis with a mechanical clutch - but that doesn't seem to be what your PO did. Probably he just got a new Sawzall for Christmas, and had to try it out.

Baka4alfa
You got some great guys working on your car out here.
Lee Scovanner owns European Auto in Blue Ash. He owns 5 or 6 Alfas and is the one that got me hooked these cars.
When you get your care back he is the guy that you will want to see for service and support.
Go Bengals!

Fred,
Oh, yes, I think I met Lee once. He followed me into a store after spotting my Alfa 164 drive by. He had just performed service on it and we had not met. Great guy. I use him for all my Alfa sevice. I usually drop off on nights and pick up on nights due to my job, so we do not get to chat.
The Bengals are doing quite well as of late. It will be interesting to see if they finish strong, like they need to, in order to make the playoffs. Who would have thought that their defence would get them back in the hunt?

BTW, those of you who don't think the step nose was made after 67. Here's a 71 jr.
It's now in the shop awaiting its rebuild. Street/track car.

Hey, that's my car!
I can't tell you how excited I am to see it in Akitaman's capable hands! Hey, maybe this is the first new project to arrive at the new shop, eh? That shop looks sweet.
It's going to have a twinspark conversion and should be the perfect fun car. Oh yeah!

Hey Akitaman,
Is the Alfa badge on the trunk lid and the Antenna hole in the right side of the fender..... factory upgrades?
My '67 jr doesn't have either.
The body look really nice..............

Hi Dave. The badge looks right. No antenna hole is factory. This was a "dealer" option. And this is also a huge reason for rocker rot!

So we made a little more progress. The windows have the standard rust issues, as seen here.
A new tire well is in the works too.
Uh, the floor has a little to much air conditioning
The tear down is done.... or should I say tear out!
And the nose is incorrect.
Sometimes it pays to know the people who have the goodies. this just came in. Baka4alfa wants a jr look on the inside.

Hey Akitaman
What kind of tools do you use to clean out the ghuck in the interior? Air grinder with a steel brush?

We use the evilest machine known to man. A 27 pound, 5000 rpm angle grinder with a 4 pound stiff wire cup. You loose grip of this thing in a confined area, it would be like getting trapped in a bag with a mountain lyon!
