Yes, A guy in Kansas makes a very high quality one. I saw it at the Alfa Convention in Tulsa. I don't remember his name but he had a couple cars there, one was a red and silver GTV race car. Anyone know who that was?

I guess you could just cut down your shifter, which would reduce the length of the throw, but would require more effort to shift. I've seen period pics of GTZs with a presumably factory-done short shifter.

The way BMW, Porsche, and other short-shift kits work is to alter the leverage length, of the lever about and below the pivot point. On a 105/115 Alfa, the pivot point is inside the trans, at the top of the tower. On a BMW or Porsche, it's external, which makes it a lot easier to re-engineer. But in all cases, if you have shorter throw, you have higher force needed, which wears out the transmission faster.

There are also race-car remote shifters that move the shifter out of the transmission and back farther to a new point on the tunnel, close to the driver. But I don't know if there's an actual kit for that, or if each one is custom done. Not feasible for a typical daily driver, probably.

Yes, there is a short shift kit for these cars. I have seen it, not only that I felt it on an actual car just over a month ago.

Is that the same company as Prinzbredevort (or however it's spelled!)? They do have some very interesting pieces that no-one else appears to stock. Has anyone ever paid them a visit? I asked about that short-shift kit last year, and wiser heads responded that they are usually too fast for regular synchro boxes, might be different if you have a dog box though.

Alex.

Short shifter

I am the guy from Kansas that makes the short shifter/remote shifter. If you are interested contact me privately and I will give you more info. I have sold quite a few and they work very nice.
