The adhesive is made by Duramix. It's called large panel adhesive. This same solution is used to bond the roofs to some major manufactures cars and trucks.

Duramix is good stuff. I've used it for repairing plastic body parts (like the front bumper off a Ford Taurus wagon. The things a person will do for a date, only to be turned down ) The stuff is pricey, but works really well.

I thought it would be a good idea to see the color in sun light.

The car is going back to the suspension shop tomorrow so they can put the brake lines and steering linkage back on.

Thats it. GTVs IMO look bloody awful in black. For some reason it hides the lines instead of enhancing them.

GTVs also just blend into the crowd in that dark blue, any green and the light yellow. I'm also not a fan of silver because just seems too modern a colour for a basically 60's car.

Just my opinion ofcourse .

I actually bought a black GTV, despite the fact that I was totally with you that black is not very nice. I bought it anyway, knowing it needs a paint job, and knowing the original color was AR501 Red....I must say that the black has really grown on me. Everyone around me tells me it should stay black, and I am torn!!

Bella, bella, bella...

I stopped by Group 2 today to drop-off some misc. brake line hardware and the new 15" rims. I will let G2 select the appropriate tires as they will match brakes, tires and suspension accordingly.
The color 'cut-in' looks outstanding. I can't believe that almost of all of the color you currently see is going to be covered-up with putty and trim work. It is absolutely the correct color, as I recall from the original chassis section where it showed the factory French Blue and not the P/O attempt at Le mans Blue. It is a great color....

From my perspective there is quite a bit to do....but we are certainly very close. I would say that by next Spring this car will be turn-key, ready to go. It will definitely be out on test runs throughout the late Fall and into Winter, but come Spring it will be ready for fast road and track day driving.

Do you notice how in the first photo you cannot see the main body line. Now we know this car is as straight as, but black has hidden it.

It's a beautiful car ...

Right after I posted those pics I was tempted to say exactly the same thing. However, I think one of the great things about GTVs, irrespective of color, is how they "shape shift" depending on lighting. Mine is green (not my favorite color but what the heck) and I sometimes find myself walking around the car in circles trying to decide which angle of view best captures the car's beauty. I can never decide and that is why I love Alfas.

Mubezzi.....I was at the AROC convention this past weekend and not one early '69 105.51 GTV was to be seen. Definitely no French Blue GTV was to be had....but plenty of maroon, ocra yellow, pino verde and of course reds were present. Your car would definitely have been unique in this company of colours.

Darker colours do seem to hide the lines a bit on a GTV as the car shape is quite rounded....

On a race car though I think black could work very well on a GTV if the colouring was done like the old John Player Special sponsored cars..... this would then highlight the cars lines rather than hide them.....

Add some of those nice old gold simmons wheels and personally I think you'd have one very neat looking track car....

See attached examples of Player cars....

Good things take time.........and money. I think I have all the parts necessary for the rebuild minus a few known items, but enough to proceed.

I quit my job and thus, this project has come to stand still. But don't get your panties all wound around the rear axle, I am going to be back in action here in the next couple weeks....Please don't sell my project Akitaman!

My 1750 stage III head restro is complete. Thank you Steve@Progressive Automotive. Please also do not sell my instake and head.

The short-block rebuild will get under way shortly as there was a miscommunication with the shop. This turned out to be a possitive as I really want to replace the stock flywheel with a lighter option. The machine shop is going to need which ever flywheel I am ultimitly going to use so, this 'delay' has allowed me to figure out the right recipe for the motor rebuild, as it pertains to my needs. I am definitly going with a more efficient starter motor and need to ensure I have the right ring gear, etc...

So ya, this project is still alive. I've just been out riding my bike and fishing...
