Bluette or Cobalt Blue?

I recently purchased a Euro 67 GTV with a mysterious blue color underneath a bad repray in white (see pic). I believe that it's one of two blues: bluette OR cobalt blue, as these two were offered in 1967, according to information posted on the BB. There's also some confusion on whether Cobalt is the same as Medium Blue? Does anyone have pictures of cars (preferably GTVs) painted in these colors? Thanks.

The blue in your trunk looks quite similair to the Francia Blue AR#342. Check this thread which shows some blue GT's.

It's not bluette; that color has much more grey to it.

Thanks for your input, gentlemen. I've put in a word with Mr. Magro at Archivio Storico; hopefully he'll shed some light on this.

Francia Blue should be MUCH lighter than the blue in my trunk, I believe. Well, that leaves about five other possible "blues" to guess from. Nobody's seen "cobalt" blue, eh?

Joe,

Turns out that it IS bluette. See Antonio Magro's e-mail from Archivio Storico below. Now, I'd like to know what "leather skai" on an interior looks like!

Dear Mister Hung,

with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 250905 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (105.36), manufactured on the 10th July 1967 and sold on the 22nd July 1967 in Rome, Italy.

The body colour is bluette (AR 327), with leather skai interiors.

Yours, Sincerely,

Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo
Archivio Storico

Antonio Magro

Leather Skai is a different and much prettier way of saying vinyl.

Here's Cobalt Blue

FYI. I've not seen too many cars in this color, which is original to my '67 Super.

The super looks to be similar in color to that which was used on a few Junior Zs..

Its funny that the colour on Laxman24's Giulia Super is referred to as cobalt blue since to my eyes it appears too dark for what tradditionally is referred to as cobalt blue.

As to Pat's GT Veloce, indeed I would have thought that was Francia Blue, for when I was originally choosing a blue for my Giulia Super I was after that colour but the paint suppliers couldnt locate the correct code/paint mix and so hence I my car painted in French Blue (Fiat 128 colour) which is very similar to Francia Blue (Alfa colour). Interestingly though it is a colour I would have normally associated with Cobalt Blue (as per in artists paint charts). So there you go. See below for a pic of my car.

I now though have decided, given the paint job was rubbish, to have it resprayed Blu Hollandese (Navy Blue) as per the photo of the model, once I can afford to have it done.

Dave!
give your kitty a hand with that car cover. It'll never be able to get it on the car all by itself!

Hey Alfaveloce, Oscar is one very special cat. And to be honest I reckon he actually could drag it back in place !! He sure has one mean bite if provoked

BTW I really do need to get the Super out from under the cover and into better storage. Hopefully in the not too distant future I can do this for the old girl. The problem at the moment is the lockup garage I rent only has room for 2 cars and this is already consumed by my 1750 GTV and Fiat 124 sport. Dave

Following is a Tornado Blue car; TB was later replaced by Bluette, according to the Anselmi book. I'm not sure if the formulation remained the same while the name changed, or both changed.

That is one heck of a gorgeous colour. Hmn choices. I don't suppose you know or could find the code for that one. Superb Giulietta too

The code is AR327, and check out the following thread about Giulietta/Giulia Sprint colors:

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/giul...lor-chart.html

Member Alfaduc's Sprint in Bluette, but as he stated, the photo has a bit less green than the actual car:
