Jacking up the front

After reading about not using those Jack points, where is the safest place to jack up the front with a trolley jack. Anybody got a photo of this

best wishes

I remember with my Mini you could just use a trolley jack under the sump - it did only weigh 600kgs though so I dont know whether that'd be an advisable method for a 105..

I usually jack under the front suspension. You need a fairly low jack though. Otherwise, under the crossmember below the engine is a good place (put a block of wood between your jack and the cross member to spread the load), since you thus jack up both sides at once and you leave the suspension area free for your jack stands - which you do use every time of course, don't you?

At the back I usually just place a block of wood under the diff and jack it up there. This does mean that you start out by moving the suspension up in stead of the body, but if you just lift enough it's not a real problem.

I agree with Kroehl. My GTV 2000 is lowered with sport springs. I have to first drive the car up on to 2 inch high pieces of wood, which raises the car enough to get my jack underneath the cross member, and always with a piece of wood on the jack!
