Oh...Oh...I did it...I went and did it.

and HE is beautiful!

Been longing...searching...for years and I finally went and did it. Purchased on Monday and want to know what you all think. Hard to sleep waiting to get my hands on it. Need to transport from CT to Southern California...arrrrghhhh. I wanted to drive it over but the OLD owners say the roads are already getting icy.

ROAD TRIP anyone?

Just warning you all in advance, I'll probably be pestering this forum from now on instead of just reading.

jstbeachy (the excited one)
gonna' try and post photos...

What a beauty!! You done good!

Please ask the previous owner if your new steed used to belong to a guy in Norfolk, Virginia, OK? The car looks VERY familiar!

By the way...I'm still trying to find you some inexpensive shipping. If I could, I would definitely take you up on that offer. But, unless we could do it on Thanksgiving weekend, I am afraid I am just a wee bit too "over-booked".

Alex!

Is that good news or bad news the knowing of the car? (don't think I want to know...oh go ahead...give it to me straight) Here's the scoop. Orig owner was a Doctor who purchased new from Newport Imports Rhode Island ...and I believe this current owner mentioned a naval/service person? owned in VA...most records from 1974 are from Gaston Andrey Inc in Framington, Mass where I believe the second owner was located. The VA owner was who my guy purchased it from. It had 25,000 miles on a rebuild when he got it. It has been driven 5000 miles in the past 2 years as a "Friday" car. The gentleman who I purchased it from is a auto shop owner who is the North American distributor of Orig Euro Minilite wheels....so got those with the deal. Was told always garaged...in a heated one right now. I even get the original framed window sticker. giggles

Only reveal good news if you know anything...I'll peak at the board through hands over eyes. I'm a worrier! I just know I've been searching and searching and keep missing picking one I just love up.

Oh...thanks, I know about the trip...is a long haul. But I'd love to do, just a bit scarrrreddd not having someone who knows how to tap the right areas when/if anything acts up. I'd do it in a heartbeat over the holiday, but have an out of town guest till Sat...grrrrrrrrr...

I'm deciding on a moving company tomorrow...I want it NOW...but again, for every 5 great reviews of a transporter there is one nightmare story. I'm just gonna go for it.

Thanks for all your help and quick response...

Wendy,

I was the previous owner in Virginia. I just hate it that you are getting this rusted old nag. Better to cut your losses and sell it immediately. If you don't mind taking a little loss, I may be able to come up with some cash.

Just kidding! It was a very nice car when I had it. I would have bought it back but the money just isnt' there since my wife and I are doing home improvement.

Please feel free to give me a call. 7574505908.

What you did, just isn't fair Aren't there enough GTV's in California for you to buy one there instead of taking one from the Northeast where we have such slim pickings? Oh well, good luck anyway

Roads in Connecticut getting icy? Huh? I had the top down on my Spider on Monday (and yeah, it was cold), but it's nowhere near icy yet, unless it's the northwest hills, and they get icy in July, it seems.

Great, I hope your car isn't smuggling the rust germ somewhere. Our RUSTFREE CA cars better not get infected by being parked next to yours!

Congrats on the car. It looks real nice and the paper trail from new is just a bonus. Where in So Cal are you?

Oh Sorry...didn't mean to leave you hanging! Called Alex then sat smiling like an idiot the rest of the evening. The great news was that Alex knows one of the past owners of my new car. (Dale posted soon after) And, he had driven, sat in and worked on it....and...it met with his approval. What a relief...whew...(wipes brow). Not to mention my mechanic did a wonderful job troubleshooting a complicated overheating issue and I picked up my 164 yesterday running cool again. Had a glass of chianti and passed out!

Hearing the thumbs up from Alex was indeed a comfort, as I purchased it only with photos and telephone chats.

Dale! Thanks and I also received an email with your contact info. I heard you took real good care of my car while it was waiting for me!

Seriously, thanks for making contact...I'm taking off for a trip up the coast from Southern California to Monterey for 5 days with my pup and the "cooled off" 164. I'd love to get in touch some time after the holiday.
