I think the blackout got my post on mirrors...

Ok,

Had a post on deciding on mirrors for my 71 GTV,
but cant find it. Maybe the blackout?

Here goes again. Im trying to find some nice
mirrors to suit my GTV. The originals are ok,
but to me they just dont look right.

I am wondering if anyone has used the
Abrath bullet style from International Auto?

I also really like the Talbot mirrors, again
any one install these?

Any advice, pics of mirrors on their GTV much appreciated.

Also got a reply from Scunitz, but post gene...
If you posted some advice or pics, please
repeat.

Thanks

Talbot mirrors add a classic look. However, they are more costly than the repro Alfa mirrors available from IAP and Centerline. Here are a couple supplier links.

Here's another shot of the Talbot that was installed on my GTV by the dealer in Frankfurt. I just sold it on eBay for $100.

Original Talbots had the company name and model stamped in the body. New Talbot mirrors have a green plastic button instead.

My original is pictured on the left. The new style is on the right.

If it doesn't have to be a Talbot brand, there's look-alike on eBay right now.

Kai,

Thanks for the reply, and info.

Does the Talbot have to be mounted so far
from the window on the fender?

Seems like it would be hard to see in it mounted
in that way.

Not to mention trying to adjust it while driving!

Keven,

I don't know why they put that Talbot so far out on my fender! Definitely the furthest mounted one I have seen. It was not very useful, although I did get used to peering through my windshield to look through it. Now that I installed an Alfa repro on my door, I still find myself looking at the fender first. Now I need to primer the spot where the Talbot was mounted and fill the holes with silicon. Temporary fix until I can have the body work addressed some day.

Jim,

Talbots are not adjustable while driving, even if they're mounted on the door. You adjust them and lock 'em down with the screw.

I bought some Talbot copies for my GTV. I got them from Branda Performance which is a mustang and cobra part supplier.

The problem is that the way they mount on the car you can barely see the drivers side snt the passenger side is nearly invisible. So I sold them on ebay and got original style reproductions.
