I like the look of a wood knob that matches the steering wheel as well. I used to work in a machine shop, so I bought a cheap generic round maple shift knob and drilled the center out to fit the Alfa shift lever (it secures with set screws). I also bored out the top and embedded an Alfa logo in it, but that was extra-credit work. It looks nice, though, and the finish matches the rest of the wood int he car very well. If you know a friendly machinist, this isn't too difficult.
