Hey Benji, I can imagine you sure are going to be following Max's build on this one then, perhaps with mixed feelings, envy and pride in seeing it reborn.

I don't think cars like this can be legitimately called "replicas". Like countless Cobras, various Ferraris, and others of widly varying quality, they are really cars that are built "in the style of" GTAs. Having said that, I think the car looks very appropriate. All of the classic Alfa styling touches are there. It doesn't look modern even it it is a pretty major departure from stock. If you squint a little and imagine a little you can see the Autodelta (if not the factory) guys shopping the parts bins to build something like this back in the day.
Good work Max and family!

In the US, this would be called a resto-mod. Really nice looking car. I'll bet you had a very happy owner.

series 2?
Why are all you guys talking about a series 2 1750 GTV?
My series 2 has hanging pedals.
Apart from my curiosity, I am very impressed with this interpretation of a Bertone.
Way to go Max. Any chance of a price range indication??

Thats an easy one to discuss, though I am aware that in the US there were some further differences. Out here in Aus and I am pretty sure this was also the case for the UK and Europe, the 1750 GTV series 1 came with the earlier style bumper (as per the stepnose), also the flying buttress front seats, and no side indicators on the front guards, while the parking light and indicators were mounted on top of the front bumper. In terms of the mechanicals, I am pretty certain the only real difference between a series 1 and 2 1750, was the inclusion of the 10548 cams. From memory the series 1 1750 ran from '68-69 while the series 2 went from '70-71.
In terms of appearance, a 1750 series 2 gained the round indicator on the front guard, and the parklight/indicator was moved to under the front bumper, while the shape of the bumpers was squared off and included overriders, and the front seats changed to those as you would find in a 1600 junior and later on the 2L GTV. Out here in Aus, and in the UK and europe, I am pretty certain we never had the hanging pedals (this being a US feature only).

Unless I'm very wrong, all RHD Giulia coupes (and very probably berlinas and spiders) had floor-mounted (standing) pedals - the reason being that there's nowhere for master cylinders to go on the RH side of the firewall due to the throttle linkage and, I guess, the carbs.

Thanks guys:
The indicators I saw but without bumpers you have to put them somewhere.
The rest of the differences are not noticeable if you remove the bumpers, seats and even the engine.
And yes mine is LHD.
I still like this car.

Hey Guys! Just a few points to clarify, donor cars can be chosen from any model of 105 Series Coupe, naturally we anticipate step noses to be more common for buyers to request than non step-noses. In this case the owner wanted us to convert his 2000 GTV and it was decided that the 1750 interior and exterior sytling was nicer so this conversion was made first. As the car was going to have no bumpers, we had an issue as to where to put the front number plate with the standard 4 small lower vents of a 2000, also since it was going to run a 198BHP TS and be tracked regularly we needed good cooling, so we removed all the lower holes and put GTA lower grille holes in - this then gave us space for a stick on number plate as commonly done on step fronts. Repro 1750 mesh grilles are no longer available in a suitable quality, so we had to make our own, and the logical progression was to make it in a GTA style.
The reason we changed the door handles etc was just as Alfa did with their GTAs, to save weight. To get this car down to the 875kg target whilst being properly trimmed inside all these parts are necessary, as is the lightweight windscreen and perspex rear screen along with all our lightweight suspension goodies. the battery to is used to save further weight over a standard wet cell battery.
Personally I think the car looks stunning, and I am really happy that we did this with a non-stepfront, to show the potential of these cars to be just as suitable as step front for making 'Alfaholics GTA Replicas' with. Everyone already knows what a step front in GTA styling looks like, so it was nice to do one from a different angle for the launch. Naturally step noses are becoming very hard to find in suitable conditon to use as a donor, and non-stepfronts are easier to find in suitable condition. Several people through our shop when it sat next to my car in final assembly said they prefered the less aggressive look of this front panel design over the step-front - an interesting perspective! The real treat is the interior, the 1750 dash and console setup has worked so well - clearly the favourite choice for customers wanting ultimate aestetic pleasure and not caught up in obsessive originality, will be a 1970 step nose which has the 1750 style dash, and then we fit the 1750 consoles.
Joao:- My father has restorered over 250 of these Bertone coupes to concours original standard, now its time for us to do something a little different and manufacture a product based from all the information we have gathered and products we have developed from my GTA Replica and our race car, and combine this with my father's concours restoration fit and finish knowledge to produce a genuine production car quality, Porsche 911 performance Alfa Romeo.
