I am ashamed to say that I parted out a white '74 GTV that had almost the same level of rust as yours. Nice to see that you are willing to go the distance and preserve this one.

Sounds like you are planning on building a platform for your dog in the rear. Look for my thread in the next couple of weeks as I'm finishing up do just that. It is working out nicely and if I'm on my game I'll post plans and such. The prototype already has the pawprint of approval from my dog!

The rear seats are a ridiculous waste of space. No one under the age of 18 months could fit in there - but there are ashtrays in case it's a very sophisticated 18 month!

Don't be ashamed, I'm just an idiot. I should have turned and run the moment I saw the rust bucket I'll look out for your dog platform project!

I found more information on Biancospino without much trouble ( What did we do before the internetz?!? )

Of course now I am browsing the other pages of colours and wavering...

I think White is a great color on a GTV. Then again, I think a GTV looks good in about any color...

Did you review this thread yet? http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/car-...materials.html

Great thread, Rich! Thanks.

I must say I am quite taken with Verde Matese from 1975, the year my car was made.

How does one go about matching these old colours? Are there mixing formulas online somewhere?

Paint!

In the end I went with AR008 Bianco Pininfarina. There seems to be some confusion in the documentation regarding Biancospino with some sources listing it also as AR008 and others (including Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo) as AR013. Whatever the truth is the formula for AR013 proved elusive so I went with AR008.

Next up is final buffing and polishing of the paint, giving the wheels a spray with aluminum flavour paint and then putting the glass and other bits back on. After which I finally get to drive her home...

...and start sorting out the electrics and mechanicals

Luckily I have an ace mechanic who works out of his garage right across the street from my new home. He has something of a collection of rusted old Mustangs so I figure he shouldn't have problems working on a '70's Alfa GT.

Well done! I never get tired of seeing a GTV in fresh paint. Is that kind of a grayish white? Should look quite smart when everything is back together.
