WOW!!! Scott, Thanks! Daron did make this one by hand. Maybe if he makes a few more, he'll give me a kickback or buy me a beer. Thank you for your kind words -- I kinda thought the first missive about the new heart would be a heat-seeking missile aimed at my head. So, your comment was a pleasant surprise this morning.
It's a good day.

Very interesting Bill...not sure if I miss the bars inside the heart or not. I need to see it finished with the mesh and paint-reminds me of the TZ heart. Yer custom alum heart is the same size as the stock stepnose heart-yes? It looks a bit shallower in depth. Love the integration design idea into the nose. I'd love to see some shots of that blue in the sunlight. Awesome car.

Hey Mike,
Thanks. I had the thought to design it after a modern Alfa with no bars. The blue looks good in sunlight and you'll see it more often than anybody else on the BB. Yes, the heart is the same size as the stepnose heart, we used the cracked one you gave us for the template. BTW, thanks.
We need to get together soon -- I'm out of town next week, though. I'll call you.

Ben, You are completely welcome to drive it when it's done. Have to keep the locals happy and special consideration is due for the guy who procured some of the critical items--however, you are NOT allowed to get the first ticket in my car. If the local LEOs see you driving, they might just start mailing the tickets to my house-- because they won't be able to catch it.

Do these license plates make me look fat?
You bet the first thing I'm going to do it weigh it dry, then wet, then with spare tire and road equipment. We should start a 'wet' pool for the nearest pound winner gets bragging rights for the best calibrated eyeballs.
Probably Daron or Max would win...but wouldn't it be great to outfox the masters?

Nobody knows noses
Daron worked his magic on an aluminum nose and we both wrestled with the look. We brainstormed and tried again. What we're thinking now is something with stainless bars and a graphite grill mesh behind it.
Take a look at what we have so far.

After we loked at the bars in place, we decided to go that way. Then we worked on blending the heart with the lines of the car. Roughing it in gave us an idea of how it looked, be we weren't satisfied with the shape. We worked to get the proportions esthetically pleasing, heritage specific, with a slightly modern look.
We're getting there.

why weld the top of the heart and not have it screwed so it can be removed?
Also Daron will you use any bondo on the welded together panels?

We are welding the heart in place to integrate it with the body. It will be seamless and painted body color. Daron will not use bondo, but work the aluminum as close to finished as possible and then use all metal to fill the minor voids and smooth transitions. When the primer goes over it, it will look as if it was formed as one piece.

Will the car have wheels....or is it going to be a spaceship?
Don't know...there's a reason why the GT is such a great and loved classic. It will be hard to improve the original looks. Certainly on the technical side going for all aluminum is fantastic, but you are loosing me here on the looks...but hey isn't that a matter of taste

Bill, I really like the look of how you and Darron were able to integrate the grill onto the panel. The appearance simply flows with elegance. The horizontal bars look right too. Well done as I am sure there must have been some moments of indecision as to which way specifically to go.
This car is pure art and evolution occurring and a credit to all. I wouldn't want to think about the end cost, but and perhaps this is immaterial given what you are creating.
As to the end weight, well I think it is pretty clear it is going to be light, and at the rate it is going I would have thought well light of a GTA. Indeed an online competition to see if we can out guess the masters seems cool to me
BTW, I really like your choice of colour and am looking forward to the finished car. Have you at this stage thought about the interior of the car, ie. pure GTA look but updated or ????. Cheers Dave
