Intermittent wipe?

I've just moved house so the alfa is finally getting more use than it did when I could walk to work...

It's never been my intention to run it all year round, but as it won't fit in the garage (yet), it's been out in the rain quite a bit (British summer ) and the windscreen wipers, have started working on an intermittent basis. I don't mean they sometimes work and sometimes don't - they actually sweep about once every couple of seconds, just like a modern car's intermittent wipe feature.

I can't quite figure out why they've started doing this, as I don't think I've changed anything and the wiper switch only has one position...am I missing something? Was this a feature that I've accidentally discovered?

Look forward to hearing!

If the car is the 65 GTV in your header, it did not have intermittent capability. Most likely you have a loose or coroded wire in the wiper circuit, or a coroded ground. It's a simple circuit, so just follwo the wires....

Thanks Robert - that's what I originally thought, although the gap between sweeps is uncannily regular! I guess I need to get out the meter and go through the circuit!

My Duetto has intermittent wiper but it is a function I added. Now I have three way to operate them. The original switch turns them on continous, the added switch make the contact for intermitten, and the foot switch will activate them also. Incidently, I never drive her in the rain. I guess i'm just a gadget man

Lee,

My duetto also hjas intermittant, and a two speed wiper. I got the motor from a fiat 124 which is two speed - it bolts right into the place of the alfa one. original switch selects low or high, 3-way selects off-intermittent-on, foot switch(and pump) is on.
