Hi Jay

Thanks for the clarification. I must have misread the description. Anyway it was still a very neat way of installing the batteries and parcel shelf and not something I had previously seen before.

Borrani's recommendation re bracketing (support plinth) for use with a bolt in cage makes excellent sense. As I previously mentioned bolting in a cage, especially to thin metal is not ideal. Dave

Steve,

Thanks. About three months ago I was beginning to despair, but it is now beginning to shape up a bit, so morale is back on track.

I like the idea of welding in the plates for a bolt-in cage - although I don't want a cage for road use it makes a hell of a lot of sense for track use, especially when using a harness. I'll try and get the dimensions for a bolt-in cage and move ahead with that idea. I think the way ahead is to build it so that I can change it quickly (under an hour) between track car and road car (and vice versa) - i.e. change seats, cage, and belts. (I am not in a race series, just messing about on the track.)

Alfajay,

It was your car that inspired me with the back seat/shelf arrangement. I realise it is not original, but I thinks it is a 'sympathetic' period look - and you did yours very well indeed

Woo hoo! First batch of powder coating came back today. I'm no expert on the process, but I think the guy did a very good job. I'll be sending the second batch in February when I get back to Cape Town. (Bottle of gin and can of beer added to show scale!)

It had to happen - although I took photos while dismantalling, I did not get a detailed shot of the A-Arm/Wishbone bushings. They are asymetrical and I am not certain which way they go in (If indeed it matters). Going by the shop manuals it looks like the bigger end goes on the inside. Can anyone advise if there is a correct way to put them in? Photos show the options.

I most certainly would be Juliet Romeo. Where are you in SA? I live in Cape Town, but am in Nigeria until early April. I'll wait for the pics.

Front wheel arches

The front wheel arches have had to be opened up at the front as I now have the Alfaholics suspension geometry set.
