alfa2go's New 67 Giulia Sprint GT Veloce Project
Well I picked up my new project off a friend today. He helped me collect it about 3 hours drive away. This one has me excited. It has a bit of body work to go but the sills and other bits were already done by panelbeater after it was media blasted inside and out.
Underside, enginebay, interior and wheel wells are already painted, and it is quite a straight car with no apparent accidents. I'll post a couple of pics off my cameraphone from today when we picked it up and fill in more details later.

The levitation trick is impressive.
Will this feature be kept on when it is back to being a driver?

Yes, it is special! If you look at the surrounds it is actually a top secret underground government bunker called 'Area 105'. This coupe will include some alien technology. Or at least the alfa professionals will think its alien once they see my handywork

Probably something from Acme that would have really worked for Wile Coyote..
Do you have the parts number?

Bit of info on the car.
It is AR299772 which doesnt even show up in the Fusi lists.
But Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo say:
AR 299772 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce RHD (105.37), manufactured on the 17th October 1967 and sold on the 10th November 1967 to Alec Mildren from Pymble , Australia .
So it really is quite late. Probably a bit of crossover with the 1750 Series 1. Anyone know of any others this late?
I do have the original 1600 for it as well so am very happy about that. I actually have a rebuilt ported and polished 1600 head as well with 10548 cams so that is a head start.
This poor car has been bandied about a bit, apparently it went to Papua New Guinea for a while, then to the North Queensland tablelands where the owner put it in for a light resto but when he checked on it they had stripped it down and media blasted the whole lot! Fight followed, PO took the car back and it has been forwarded around the state for the last 20 or so years! Places it has been include Atherton, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Kingaroy, and now Brisbane!

Absolutely love the Sprint GT's - I wonder if I'll still be able to find one to restore in 20 yrs when the kids move out... I live in hope. Actually I just did the math and laughed - it's been 15 years since I restored my 1750 gtv - and I used to joke that we wouldn't be able to buy petrol by 2010, let alone find 105 parts.....
A little 1300 GT fun (I watch this to get inspired when in the resto-doldrums)
Cheers,

Yeah, I thought I wouldnt be able to afford one (or be allowed to get one) in a few years so I jumped on this project shell. Only had one kid then, now have 3, 5 and under so I couldnt pull this swiftly off now! It is hard to not do anything on this one until the Super is back on the road but I will resist. It will have a 2L (which I have) 2L brakes/suspension and I have already had a LSD rebuild which I can put on anytime.
There are definitely a few stepnoses out there in sheds gathering dust just waiting for you to reawaken them!

I hear you - I snuck the Duetto in just before number one son was born.. Managed to wrange the whole 'sell duetto - restore super' under the loose requirement for a car that could take a childseat...

Oh - if the LSD is a 4.3 or 4.5 put it in the Super ! (at least until the GT is ready ) The 4.1 LSD I used in the duetto (and now in the Super, both running 2L engines) transformed the car - most noticeably in the wet when you're in a hurry / pulling out into traffic - it's better to nail it and have both wheels spinning, than waiting for the inside wheel to stop spinning.... Of course that's just my opinion, which everyone is entitled to The 4.1 diff might be a little high for the 1600 I think - would take the sparkle out around town.

Such is my fervent wish - I was thinking about it last night (what have you done !!??) and really - there's heaps more remanufactured parts, particularly repro panels, available now than there were 15 years ago... so not such a silly thought ..... Must .... Resist ....

'heyjpn' on youtube has a number of other great drive vids in his 1300 as well - I'm *definitely* going to do this myself shortly - should only be a couple weeks now before the super is registered again !
Without hijacking Derek's thread further (oops) There's some Super fun here: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/seda...tml#post964283 He has a few other vids worth watching too

Its a 4.1 so I will save it for this car since it will have the 2L. You are right, I don't really want the Super to be sluggish in the traffic as it will be re-entering the peak hour rat race in which it used to perform admirably. Giuseppe was actually quite zippy with his (noisy)1300 rear end I have a stock 1600 rear end on the bench at the moment to replace it.

Hi Chris, we were ok, but know of many less fortunate. What a disaster!
As for this car, it will be a fun project. I just saw the date on the first post and realise I have had it for 3 years now. Must get it rolling soon

I have 299698 manufactured on the 11th October 1967 and sold on the 18th October 1967 to Alec Mildren from Pymble, Australia. They might even have been on the boat together!
