Door gaps

Hello all,

I am currently restoring my 1750 gtv and i have reached a task which is slightly overwhelming me at the moment, reskinning a door. At the moment the main problem i am having is determining door gaps, the only reference points i have at the moment are the back wing and sill/rocker (which have been replaced). The back edge of the front wing has been/is being repaired (due to corrosion from missing splash panels) so at the minute the door gap on the leading edge of the door is entirely up to me to determine.

So the main question i want to ask is roughly what size door gap is correct for the front edge of a bertone coupe door?

Also with the frame and skin aligned together on the car so the swage line and fit appear to be correct the gaps are 3mm both at the back of the door and along the bottom edge. This seems quite tight to me or will the gap increase slightly when the skin is folded over the frame?

3mm does sound very tight. Check out post #17 in this thread: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/anyt...ybe-helps.html

This should help. If not, I'm sure Daron can answer your questions.

Thanks for the response Fangio, that video has some useful tips on alignment, i didnt know you could adjust the latch via the inner handle as shown (changing the angle of the latch). The door actually opens and closes quite well with little force required, its the gaps front and back that I am unsure of. I will try and post some pictures when i can.
