Fitted luggage for giulietta sprints

Has anyone ever actually seen the fitted luggage that was available for giulietta sprints?

Fitted Luggage

Hi Guys

I've also never seen any for the Sprints, this suitcase was on Ebay about a year ago supposedly for a Spider, according to the seller.

How true this is, I cannot say, however it is a "period" suitcase.

Ciao
Greig

The Sprint catalogue publication no 551, 1955 shows two stacks of cases on the back shelf. That's the only reference I know of and they are not of the expanding type shown above.

Here's something from the Bertone catalog for the Sprint.

I just got a copy of that same Bertone catalogue. There are other options in that catalogue that I have never actually seen in my near 40 years of involvement with Alfas..

There is also a note on the last page that the cars could be built in any color desired, which is something I believed, but had no absolute evidence for until now.

A long time Alfa friend of mine who shall remain nameless, sent me a copy, along with some other Alfa items I haven't seen before. He picks up all the Alfa technical literature he can find; especially on 750, 101 and 105 series cars, usually in Italy. I was aware the catalogue existed, but had never seen a copy until 3 days ago!

As my interest is primarily historical, I won't spend the money that it generally takes to buy technical information.

The catalogue is big format; about 11 x 14 inches. It was produced by Bertone, and the date stamped on the front cover is 1 Nov 1957. The title is: Elaborrazione Finizione ed Accessori speciali per Vetture Alfa Romeo giulietta sprint gilulietta sprint veloce.

The leather straps that hold the baggage in the fold down rear seat are also shown. It also shows the fold down rear seats and the full time rear seats, the rectangular fog light units, a special steering wheel available with plastic or wood rim, front window vent windows, and chrome trim rings for the wheels. It also mentions that the cars were available in any color, the fascia panel could be black or in the color of the seats, electric horns are available, the interior can be leather, cloth and leather, or in plastic with single or double color schemes, and a list of radios is also provided.

I don't think doing reprints was the intent of the person that sent me the copy.....but I'll ask next time I speak to him.

Catarsi's book on the Giulietta Sprint shows the same Bertone luggage drawings on page 36.

Anything on the suit cases--I'm now looking for a 101 Sprint and a set would be of interest.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,
Have a word with Paul Gregory who was selling his Lightweight here on the BB a few weeks ago...he has what appears to be the perfect leather cases. There also was a photograph of the cases in situ.

Yes--thanks it was those outstanding pics of Paul's car that has really got me going on finding and outfitting a normale Sprint.

For touring on our mountain roads.
