750D tunnel case overhaul

Gents,
who's the latest overhaul master of these nowadays? Any references would be appreciated.

PM me please if you're hesitant to plug any individual on the board.

Thanks

Dave Mericle is an authority on this. Be warned replacement parts are almost nonexistant......

There were a couple write-ups on rebuilding these in the Giuliettaletta over the past couple years, one a two-part piece by a UK member, and one a one-part piece by an American. Back issues would help you.

Bearing and seals are available in standard sizes and numbers, but synchros, etc. I think are not. I just ordered the seals for mine from Bearing Engineering, including, I hope, the small side seal for the column-shift rod thingy.

I started out with one and now have three tunnel transes, so they are around as parts sources, if nothing else.

Yea - that was me. sorry to sneak up on you like that - i only do that when I'm desperate. What are you missing that you now have 3 and hunting #4?
Got me worried unless you are swinging at all offerings for the chance there still is a good one left intact.

The (original) in my car is all good except 2nd of course. I don't think you can rotate these around like the 105 boxes allow.

Good to know on the seals, etc... - I may ping you again when I get this unit home to see if you got all you needed and it was a good fit.

Chris Robinson at RMR just rebuilt my SV box and very sweet it is too. All bearings and seals available from local bearing suppliers and I got synchros from a friend who had them surplus to requirements and he got them from AFRA who are now doing them. They aren't cheap but they work well so thanks heavens for AFRA!

The articles in the Giuliettaletta are also very helpful. If you are not a member you need your head examining. Go to giulietta.com. Advert over!

Best to all

Paul

No, just bidding on it in case it went for a low price. The winning bid was way higher than I was prepared to go; I was just there in case it went as a bargain or no one else bid.
