New owner of inherited 1965 Giulia SS
Hey gang!
I have a HUGE job ahead of me. My brother in law wanted to junk this car that his dad bought new while stationed in Italy. I just couldn't see that. So I will be making a trip to KY from GA sometime this summer to pick up the car. The one picture I have so far doesn't begin to show the body and rust damage, but it is definitely not a junk car! I will be visiting this site often as my son, daughter, and I work on keeping their grandfather's car alive. If anyone has a copy of an owner's manual or shop manual that would be helpful to me, I would appreciate it! I have no idea what the dash switches are for. Thanks!
Steve
One story I've been told that was never mentioned around my FIL, is that once my wife's horse got into the barn, and put a dent in the roof and smashed the front window. The roof dent is still there, and he did order a new windshield. The windshield was never installed, but is sitting on the car in Fine condition. I understand that my wife had to do a lot to keep that horse alive....

Welcome to AlfaBB. You're probably best off starting with the Cardisc CD (often available on eBay for less), which has a good overview of the cars and the documentation available, then go for the manuals you really need as paper copies.

Be sure to check the SS Register to see if the car has been listed. I would like to know more about the car also.
Sprint Special Register Not only is this a great site for help on restoring your SS, but you might also want to check out the 750-101 group on Yahoo as there is a wealth of information there as well.

Thanks all! I'll post some pics as I take them. right now it's in an old shed with not much light. Apparently, you can't get the 155X15s anymore for the rims. I was told that Kuomo tires is going to be marketing (in 6-8 months!) a 165X15 tire. So I need to see if the tires that are on it will hold enough air to push it up onto the trailer.
Tubut: Thanks for the lead on the disc. I'll definitely be getting that!

Steve,
Welcome to the AlfaBB, and congratulations on your acquisition. Jim "papajam", is the librarian for the US Alfa Owner Association, and he was able to provide me with an electronic copy of the owner manual for my '72 Super, so drop him a Private Message (PM) and ask him about your car.

Vredestein makes a 155 SR 15 that is perfect for the SS, generally available and inexpensive.
Looking forward to pictures!

It really does need a bath, doesn't it? Anyone have an idea where I might find a new radiator?

Am I the only one for whom the pictures are broken link red 'x's?
You will probably have to adapt a Spider radiator.

Assuming the upper and lower brass tanks are not punctured in any way, you should be able to get the radiator re-cored. Take advice as to whether it's worthwhile replicating the core exactly or having a more modern matrix fitted.
To my eye, she doesn't look too bad. A lot of work, of course, but I've seen far worse. Good luck!!!

That is a very cool car !! You have to restore it. If for any reason you can't though...
HMA would be glad to rescue it !!!

Looks like a great project. A lot of work, but I've started with worse. Looks like you scored an extra windscreen too. Too bad the upper air intake plenum was left off. You'll definitely want to start with a good cleaning.
