Greetings Ingo. Welcome to the AlfaBB!
That chassis number looks like your Alfa might be a 750 Series Giulietta? Or a 1900 perhaps. Sending an email to Elvira Ruocco at elvira.ruocco@alfaromeo.com with the chassis number may provide you the name of the car's first owner.

Hi Ingo
Fusi dates your car as a '58, Veloce's and Normale's shared the same chassis numbers. What's the engine number ?
Are you a member of the Giulietta Chat Group on Yahoo ?

Hello, Ingo,
Your car's serial # is listed on the Veloce Register as a 1958 Spider Veloce, White with black interior, being owned by ED WHITWORTH, no other information is given. Is that who you bought it from?

Ingo,
Try http://www.daplus.us/PeopleSearch.aspx for the address lookup. You will get 4 responses (none in Pacific Grove). Try www.mapquest.com for figuring out which ones are close to Pacific Grove and contact them in order of proximity (closest first). Maybe one of them is or knows the former owner.
Good luck,
Ruedi

Hi Ingo
Fusi lists the motor as being the 4th 750 Spider Veloce motor built in 1959 - but then Fusi is not always 100 % accurate, more like 90%.
Alfa used to advance motors off the production line ahead of others if they showed better power outputs while being dyno run after initial build - confirmed in the Hughes book, the Racing Veloce's. This was especially true for 'special' customers, where they put the most powerful motors into those cars.
Based on this your car is a '58 Spider Veloce & matching numbers too.
Hope to see you on the Giulietta Group soon
Cheers
Greig

I knew Ed Whitworth when I lived in Carmel. He is/was a great man. His Veloce I have registered years ago before I had a 750F Register, just for historical purposes. Ed also had at one time a SZ 2 that he was restoring. I lost contact with him. Last contact I had was he when he was living in Pacific Grove. Last time I saw Ed was at a Monterey Historic Race when Alfa Romeo came over for the 75th anniversary. His car was original last time I saw it.
