Well I finally found a very nice veloce for sale

I was really wondering if there is another out there, unrestored, like my '65. I feel.... alone, and now when I drive it, maybe I'll feel GUILTY of something. Patrick, George, and a bunch of others that read this, as well as my posts, know my Veloce. Somewhere out there there must be another nice unrestored low mileage one in actual use?

I keep helping others save these cars and make them right again, because of the way I feel about mine. I cannot be the only one IN THE WORLD that has owned one from new?

Now I feel lonely AND old! It was my greatest hope that Jim had found another time capsule. Rats! %$#*^%!

My MGA Twin Cam basically fits that bill, bought new by my dad when I was six months old, driven and maintained by me since 1975, owned by me since 1988, and off the road only twice, for two-year-long engine rebuilds in 1969 and 1990. Still doing fine, though I don't drive it much seeing as how much better Alfas are.

My 60 Veloce Spider has been in constant use since new (107,000 miles) and never restored as such, but I'm the fourth owner.

I'm always looking for a good one, and since I can't come up with the big bucks, I find them GOOD homes. Take a look at the great 58 Sprint Veloce, now owned by Tom Trabue, in Patricks photo thread. A REAL GOOD one. It found it a REAL GOOD home, I doubt Tommy will ever part with it, even though he has yet to drive it, or see it in the flesh! I am not a broker, and do not buy for resale. I will document cars for prospective buyers where I'm comfortable with both the particular car, and the future owner, charging only a per hour time fee. As I've mentioned, I like these cars!

The '60 Interim Spiders had the rear portion of the hood bolted to the deck, both of our '60 Spiders are like this - it's an interim car quirk. I'm not sure if it is possible to drop the hood & fold away the frame still leave the rear portion on the deck on a conventional loose-hood Spider - has anyone ever tried this ???

While the shapes are indeed identical, the 101 Giulia Spider Veloce plenum & cam cover do not have the the breather hose linking the pair, this arrived in about '67, prior to this, the breather was at the back of the block & dumped to atmosphere.

OK, so with regards to the Red Spider, it's most likely then that whoever folded that soft top, was lazy & left the rear section still clipped to the rear hinges.
